Most beginning apprentices / helpers are dumber than a box of rocks. At the very least, you are not competing with a cell phone for your helpers attention.

Is that a Sit 'n Spin? I wanted one of those 40-some years ago. Now I have a good excuse to buy one! Lol!

I don't get it. Such things have been around forever - usually not made of pastel colored plastic, however.
My brother in law told me decades ago about a big one they had - called it a Mexican Hat (guess they didn't know enough Spanish to call it a sombrero). They were installing BIG cable - .750 single conductor - in a several- storey high vertical chase. Had to have two helpers just to sit on the turntable and be brakes!

i used to use my ladder and a broom handle when I was pulling cat-5 or coax back when I was starting out as an IT guy in a small office. I'd set the ladder up, then put the broom handle through the ladder like an "A" and put the spool in the middle. It worked pretty good.

LOL that is what I used for spools... too much trouble for one off / rarely used/once in a blue moon... to build something specific for it...
