Are Honeywell Household Generators good? Installer is saying they have a Generac motor. Thinking 16kw for 3,000sqf house. On HVAC household unit. A fridge/freezer combo unit, another freezer. Couple of the smaller fridges/wine coolers. I also let my elderly neighbor plug in their fridge.

Would total cost be closer to $7,000 or $10,000?

thoughts?

Honeywell has a good history in many areas, with a name and reputation to defend I doubt that they would allow their name to be put on a POS.

Thanks. That's what I figured, similar to my HVAC unit.

Any ballpark on what it would cost total to install this generator? I'd like to have it mounted outside, exactly where the gas meter and supply are.

That is a lot of motors starting randomly for a 16 kw. Any dehumidifiers, well, sump pump?

Last time I heard a price on a generator it was $10k for a 20Kw Briggs and Stratton. That was about a year ago and included everything.

I have a Honeywell 10KW , it’s not large enough for my complete home and garage . But it keeps the needed rooms and appliances going until Power is restored . Mine has transfer switch and scheduled cycles once a week . Mine is natural gas fired . It was a good investment .

Installed 20kW nat gas Generac last year for $7800 including transfer switch, installation and first year maintenance.

Pick your genset based on the local dealer reputation. For home standby any of the big names are fine. Generac, Kohler, Onan (Cummins).

Not sure if you're aware but Briggs is in Chapter 11. Not sure how warranties will be affected. Generac currently has an interest in acquiring a portion of the company.

Don’t bet on the POS and name......
So this rebranding is a little like Snap On and CAT tools showing up at Costco and SAMS.

The Honeywell small portable generators have (had) a terrible reputation earned by no parts, no service, surging and galloping rpm issues due carb fuel control and no start/hard starting. These small units were branded under several brands. Often sold at Amazon, SAMS and Costco at the $400-$500 price point........they seem less common now.

On Amazon it earned a 30-50% ONE star rating. There are still a few listed on Amazon. Generac was involved in the small units as well.

The large units are Generac Rebranded. They are likely getting better support in parts and service........but.........the B&S bankruptcy could effect them ???? In a Good or bad Way ?
