Trusty-Cook, Dead Blow Extender Coming Soon

We are getting close to having the extender available. The two photos are of the first part coming out of the new mold. The extender is just over 12 inches long and weighs 2.70 lbs.

There are a handful or two of forum members who received an original extender. The extender will be available for purchase on the website, and it be great to have thoughts from Garage Journal members to post on the site regarding practical use of the tool.

This tool is for striking something that would be difficult or impossible to reach with a hammer. A body shop mechanic up the road from our plant told me he kept a piece of 2X4 handy to give something a whack in a spot that he couldn't reach with a hammer. I gave him an earlier model of the extender, and this eliminated his need for a piece of 2X4. You can swing the extender itself, or you can hit the end of the extender with a hammer. The attached photos, which I had posted in another thread two years ago, show a simple demonstration of the use.

Anybody want to jump in with their uses for the extender?

We are still working on a couple items. We should have the extender available soon. The mold had been the holdup for us.

We'll have a special for GJ members once the extender is available.

Industrial motor shops would use this tool often in their rewind departments. Currently, we use long nylon stock to help form coils on deep-set lamination stacks. Primarily on giant vertical pumps.

Coils have to be formed, I'll post some pictures for a bit of an idea, hard to explain clearly. It generally requires lots of smashing and prying with non-marring tools to get the size and shape needed.

These aren't perfect examples since neither are the vertical pumps I had in mind for this tool, but give an idea of what I'm trying to describe.

After this Deadblow extender comes out, I'd take an encapsulated non-marring prybar from trusty-cook next. Short, mid, and long with skinny, fat, and mega fat options.

We have green extenders heading out the door today. I will be writing up orders today and tomorrow for those of you that approved quotes for green extenders or green extenders with hammers. We will have several orders heading out the door today.

I will give an update on the red and blue extenders when I have more information. I won't be in this afternoon, so any updates on the extenders will most likely be tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here are the components of the extender. The steel tube contains shot to give a dead blow action when swung. The steel tube is pretty heavy duty.
