Greetings from Yukon Territory. This is my first post. I recently purchased a 1930's walker electric auto lift. here is a picture I found on line like mine. It can be seen at this URL:

http://www.purplewave.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?101109/4304/1

(1)I am wondering if any one else has one, as I am looking for a manual (operation installation and maintenance) for one or any literature concerning it. I have it operating outside and am installing a shelter over it. The price was right $200. delivered. ;)

(2)Does anyone remember these lifts or have a story about them. They were made in Wisconsin by the walker tool co. they also made floor jacks etc.

I am not really looking for advice with regard to safety issues at this time, although I respect that concerns outside the realm of my above questions could surface.

I can think of 2 separate threads that should be featured in.....I would seriously reconsider a hoist of that vintage due to stress of all components and the availability of replacement parts. Also the pita factor to set it up on modern vehicles I can only imagine.....maybe if you have a corresponding vehicle of the same age......good luck with your decision....

Looks good, sounds like you got a bargain.
I would go through and carefully inspect all of the wire rope for anr broken strands or crushed areas. If you find any, then it should be repaced. Also check the termination fittings. I would hope that it has some mechanical safety locks that engage when it lifts, make sure those are all functioning correctly every time before getting under it.
Check all of the welded area for cracking or other stress.

Looks a lot like my 1936 Walker, I bought it from a Chevy dealer in Freeburg, Il. Who got it from L.R.McKinley Belleville, Il. Who bought it new in 1936. This according to Wayne McKinley L.R's son. Just a few pics as I'm working on the building I have it stored in.

Could you explain your first sentence? I am fairly unfamiliar with the various threads. Thanks.

I'm thinking that Tatra was talking about the two WTF threads but could also be talking about the Awesome thread as one, it is pretty awesome but just as scary. :scared:

I am trying to find detail images of how the mechanics worked on that lift. More images of the motor, etc. If you have the time I would like to see more detail for my education. Thanks.

Hello all, I just looked into a Walker 4-post lift and am doing some digging to find out as much as I can - Is this one now installed? How is it working? Issues and information much appreciated!

I realize this is an old thread. I am trying to find information on vintage Walker lifts. I may purchase one to use in my home shop. I love old tools and have a few old tools that I got for the vintage look but are also functional. I need to know more about these and details on capabilities. I'm sure parts will be very very difficult to find and may have to have them made or make them myself.

Try Castle Equipment website. They may be able to give you some insight into what you have.
