Classic 1947 Quincy 60 gallon air compressor, 1hp 220V runs good - $150 (San Fernando Valley, CA)

A pretty neat looking vintage compressor with a massive flywheel, these can be super smooth and quiet.

"Hi everybody selling this old 1947 Quincy compressor, it has a Quincy pump and a 1 hp general electric motor you need to have a 220 Volt outlet . It runs very good
I am not an expert but I took as many pictures as possible of all labels and information tags .
I saw them everywhere go for a very very high price , I saw some not even running , some in pieces ! I don’t know much about compressors but I do know how to read thank you and feel free to call or text for details and questions .
fair asking price $150"

Looks solid, though perhaps a bit far from Detroit (unfortunately). Do people typically continue to run 70+ year old tanks? I assume there's concern of internal corrosion eating away enough material to make these ticking bombs - is there a way to check/get them 'certified' or is it a case of run it and risk it or replace it and not worry?

Yes, you can get them recertified and I believe the term is hydro tested. Virtually no one does because the cost. I will add when tanks typically fail it is a small pin hole leak usually around a weld not a catastrophic explosion.

What, do these guys leave this stuff outdoors? My 31 year old CH looks almost new still.....

I've seen a bunch of compressors on Craigs that look like this too

Yes, they can be recertified, cost is in the $20 range.

Well worth it since the tanks commonly explode when they fail. There was a recent discussion off the issue on this board regarding a used tank, the people with experience in this area universally recommended recertifying the tank due to the significant risk of explosion.

One other option is to store it in a concrete room and not enter the room when it is pressurized.

Tall Vintage metal ROTABIN W/Drawers,9 Levels - $100 (San Pedro, CA)

This one looks super nice, you rarely see these with so many drawers and typically are in huge demand.

"Antique round storage for the garage. Vintage tool storage.
Cool old cabinet that has bins and trays and spins around to see your treasures."

Powermatic model 74. 12” blade capacity. Has scoring blade arbor also although no belt on that currently.
It is believed to be 3 phase but not sure. No info plate on motor.
It did work when taken out of service.
The fence needs some attention or replacement.

Broken Craigslist link to ad

Thats a really good price and cheap enough to invest in motor VFD (if needed), fence looks like an easy fix.

Macgee,

Thanks - I don't know what went wrong with the link... probably operator error.

This thing is only a few miles from me... I was tempted but:

1. Didn't need another project.
2. Didn't want to rewire my woodshop

Still, I was tempted because of the Tim Allen Grunting I would be able to vocalize each time I entered my woodshop.

HA!

Best regards,

Scott

Not really a deal price wise. I would love this for myself and look at this ad every couple days, so I thought I would post it here so others can drool, too.

BURR KING - BELT GRINDER -Three Wheel Belt Grinder - $895

Not a smoking price but it would not last long in my neck of the woods at that price especially with the cast iron pedestal and foot pedal. Looks complete and has the platen.

But at the price, might as well go for a 2x72 VFD variable speed grinder with a contact wheel & quick belt change option that knife makers love.
