About what age is a Bluepoints toolbox dimensions 13 1/4" long X 6 1/2" deep X 4 5/8" high with a brass nameplate on the lid that says " Genuine BLUEPOINTS " with an arrow above the word BLUE and an arrow below POINT and then in smaller print " BOXOCKET and OPEN END WRENCHES CHISELS, PUNCHES, & Other Hand Tools MFG. by BLUE POINT TOOL CO. Chicago
No earlier than 1923. Probably mid-1920's. Can you post a photo? They are very rare and highly desirable.

I can’t believe I forgot to post this one! Everyone is probably getting tired of seeing this cross posted [emoji23]

Well you guys are a horrible influence and I say keep it up[emoji23] I made an offensive offer on this plomb 9990 top chest in Vancouver and the seller countered at $45 down from $60... I couldn’t say no[emoji849][emoji849][emoji6]. The chest has been spray bombed outside and on the drawer faces but bottoms and the inside of the drawers looks good. The drawers are really straight and I figured if needed I could use it for parts. I have seen the small side drawers sell for more than this on eBay. A couple of the hinges have been rewelded or replaced but for the price I am not complaining . Looks like the stickers got sprayed right over. Now it sits on my garage shelf waiting it’s turn for me to see if I can get the spray bomb off.

Saw this OTC at a swap last year. Any idea on maker or age?

Yes, I have a craftsman one and I know plomb made a carry tote as well! Bigger question is, what else can you tell me about that Ford in the background!

It is a 1940 std coupe that was cut up into a coupster beach cruiser in the Houstan Texas area in the 60's. I have more pictures on my slightly defunct shop thread. I really need to get it going again...

I couldn’t pass this old Lumidor up for $20 filled with tools. Some gems too! Now I have to decide do I restore it or pass it on.

I don’t know much about Lumidor but I did read the archived post re: the lawsuit with Sears and the joint supplier status with Waterloo.

Are these boxes worth a restore? It seems pretty solidly built.

Sunday find of a small specific use box. A HUTTO (Cylinder) GRINDER (Hone to us these days).

Mid 1920's box - a couple of information pages for those interested:

1924 Add PDF
Google search with some interesting related pics

And how I found it -Bought full of tools and other bits and pieces:

After "Stage 1" Cleanup (Grez-Off):

And Inside:

And the Label inside - this has NOT been touched for cleaning. I found a couple or scraps of it loose in the box amongst the crud. I'm going to carefully glue done a few lifted edges and then glue these pieces back where they go - I may try some alcohol to try to leach some of the oil out of the paper after its been stabilized:

I'm a bit amazed at the overall condition of the box (Good I feel), its NOT dented up, the edges barely shows any abuse (usually the edges are all whopped about and I have to use my tongs aggressively to get them straight), rust is surface only, a surprising amount of unrusted bare metal (it clearly got rained on and had water inside...) the top is the worst where it was subjected to dew and direct rain ( semi open shed... gaps between the fence "Walls" and the roof...)

The Plan for this is to add to my growing tools I use for camp stoves and lanterns, and many of those are also old vintage pieces, or made tools (I'm making a fuel cap gasket scraper out of an ancient broken dental tool I found in this box. Several other tools are going to join it.)

Undecided if I paint the outside, but if I can gently remove the outside rist without buggering the label, I may just seal it rat rod style.

Hey guys, can anybody help me with an approximate date on this stack. They are obviously from two different eras, but I am curious if that bottom roller has some value IMG_1163.jpg

If I was even remotely close I would buy that from you. I have it's twin and it was my first box.

First post and with a question.

This is available in the local area. I've looked through as many pictures in this thread as my eyes can handle... Any thoughts on identification?

Thanks in advance,
John

Almost looks snap on to me? It has a front cover that is folded under the lid. You can see the hinge in the pictures

I suspected Snap On as well but the side handles had me thinking it might be something else... the spray bomb doesnt help either!

It's about 8 minutes away so might be worth taking a look at regardless.
