Anyone else have this problem? Because of reading these forums I'm now aware of the interest in old drill presses, grinders, vises, etc. So when I spot one for cheap I can't help myself.

I always think, that will be really nice once I fix it up! 20201016_175854.jpg

Oh yeah. My problem has never really been drill presses or grinders, but old radios, light fixtures, a have a few Craftsman bandsaws, an old Snapper lawn mower, a few table saws...

Yeah, its a thing.

I have a number of old toolboxes and sets waiting for attention.
Me too... I think I have carry box fever, there are a half a dozen more in the shed.11cae7553d9e9c15428aba94eea36c22.jpg

You know what they say. The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem.

I've spent the past two years thinning out my project pile, keeping only the things that really speak to me.

I'm always floating at around 99% capacity of my garage space and I have a very strict auditor who regularly shows up to measure my sanity. Mrs. Horsey does not mince words when it comes to my insistence with hauling home junk.

Your pile isn't even close to troublesome in my eyes. I would call it a weekend's haul from the flea markets.

Guilty! Since joining GJ I have bought 2 grinders, a drill press, a belt/disc sander, 3 vises and a lot of smaller rusty gold items all waiting to be brought back to their old glory. :shocking:

Agree! Too many things, not enough time. I try to work on smaller things first as I can clear them faster. Sometimes you buy a lot of tools and then it takes forever to clean them up...
This is my current one - soaked it for a while, managed to take apart, soaking again as I do not want to risk removing the switch and seeing the ball and spring quantum tunneling in alternative universe... (should have been smarter and bought SO tool when they were available for 99c with free shipping
However, after multiple days in ATF, raking apart and removal of rubbery substance (I wonder if ATF + stone hard old grease vs just old not yet completely dry grease) it finally started moving. It will be functional again!!!

Think we all have that problem. Can you show the details on that Craftsman (DP) intermediate pulley that looks like made from wood, please?

Since I retired, I'm finally whittling my pile down, but new ones creep in now & then. Did I NEED a vintage Sun battery/starter load tester? That's not the point.......

Yeah, since being here I have accumulated at least 5 Cman block grinders, a few anvils, a bunch of vises, all sorts of old toolboxes and wrenches, sockets, ratchets, cabinets and a WHOLE BUNCH of other ****. Can't pass up a deal. It is a sickness!
