Hello,

I've heard enough good stuff about fluid film to give it a try this year. Done plenty of reading on it's advantages and disadvantages and I think it will fit the bill for the underbody of my vehicles up here in Maine along with a few other things such as trailers and equipment.

Seems like the way to go is to buy is by the gallon (or bigger quantities for the serious FF'er!) and either get the FF sprayer or another type of off the shelf sprayer. I have a few HVLP guns but I'm thinking I'll get the special FF gun.

I'm looking at getting this sprayer

Since this stuff "never dries", do I still have to clean the sprayer after use? It would be great to be able to leave it set up with FF loaded, would make me much more likely to use it for little projects throughout the year.

I bought the abrasive blaster gun from Harbor Freight for around 20 bucks. It does incredibly well for spraying FF.

No need to clean, it will be ready to work next time you need it.

So far I have brush painted it on several vehicles, just a chip brush and the top of a 5 gallon bucket like an artist's palette lol.

It does seem to separate just a bit when it sits around, I just stir it up a bit and the original color and viscosity returns.

I'd use wool wax if I were you, thicker and stays on better. I live in Maine also and have been using fluid film for years until Wool wax came along. I reapply Fluid film throughout the winter on heavy splashed areas. Either works, one stays on a little longer

A Shotz gun works for large areas under vehicle but I also have the proper sprayer and wands for spraying inside doors, frame and panels. I spraying my ‘91 Toyota today

I've heard an airless sprayer works good with less overspray, but I haven't tried it yet.
I have an old Wagner adjustable buzz sprayer that seems like it'd be perfect. Also heard not necessary to clean it.

I used Fluid Film for several years, last year I decided to give Wool Wax a try and like it much better. I used their "pro" gun to apply it which worked great. I also got some of the extension wands which were a big help in reaching places that the gun alone couldn't reach without crawling under the car and becoming WoolWaxed myself. I also used them to get way down inside of the rocker panels and other hard to reach places.

WoolWax doesn't drip off or stink, last year's application is still in place just about everywhere.
