Looking for a small 26" box.

I have an application where a smaller 26" top box looks about right. The trouble is, it seems like most shallow 26" boxes are pretty low end. Not that a box that small needs to be heavily built, but I would like something that will hold up.

Two options I've found is this box from Proto, but I saw at least one review on Zoro that made it sound like the box was pretty light duty. The other option would be the Snap-On KRA2055. Size wise, this one works out pretty close. I just didn't know if the KRA series boxes were worth what the cost.

Are there any other boxes I should be looking at? I'd default to a US General 26 inch top box, but I don't really want a box that deep in this instance. This is one of those weird times where a shallow box is preferred.

Find a used snap-on kra-59 or the slightly smaller kra-58. They are very well built and relatively common. Usually you can find them for pretty reasonable, but then I put in a few hours cleaning the slides and lubricating them with paraffin wax. I sold my vintage craftsman, proto and kennedy top boxes in that size. The snap-on ones are just nicer.

Mac and Matco made some nice top boxes with quality similar to snap-on, just not as common or with as much variety,

I actually picked up a KRA59E at a pawn shop a few months ago. I had plannned on using it for organizing and storing small parts and other odd and ends, but it might be an option.The only real downside to it is I wanted full width drawers in this case for holding tools.

The HF box is a little deeper than I wanted. However, it might be what I go with based on cost if it looks like other options are not that much better build wise and ultimately just cost more. Another plus with the HF box is I could pick it up in person and check for damage vs. most any other box which will have to be shipped to me. I learned that the hard way with a small made in Canada SPG box. It makes my HF 5 drawer cart look good.

LA would be quite a drive for me sadly, but I appreciate your advice and offering up some viable options. I do think an older Snap On box would come closest to what I'm looking for. The kra59 I have seems pretty solid compared to many of the other small boxes I've looked at. Maybe I'll have to get over the drawer layout on that box and go with it since I already have it. I'd spend more time looking for used boxes, but I'm pretty rural. For example the kra59 I have I lucked into at a pawnshop in a town 3 hours from home.

I find the used Snap-on top chests to be a pretty good value. I bought a lot of them for my last company. You might just use the KRA59 for now and keep on the lookout for a different one in the future.
