Have either of you run into situations where you thought "gee, this really needs a higher tooth count"?

Yes. When you put a long extension or breaker bar (18"+), the likelyhood of things around the work area getting in the way can slow down your procedure, or even prevent you from getting the job done because you can engage the next tooth. In general, the longer the ratchet, the higher the toothcount I prefer.

This video features a couple new IPS pliers, along with a couple others that I've had for a number of years. IPS is a very small pliers manufacturer located in Niigata prefecture. It's an 80-year old company running a small operation with just 37 employees.

I hate those spring hose clamps to remove (but have to admit they work quite well). I’ve been using pliers, but that tool looks like the way to go!

I have the ktc branded version of that clamp. It's ok. It does tend to twist when you are really torqueing it. Think I like the ktc clamp pliers better, they seem to offer better control

In general, the longer the ratchet, the higher the toothcount I prefer.

I've never seen an extendable or telescoping ratchet from Ko-ken or Nepros.

Japan is our friends, it just works... my bad. My father was in Japan during nam.... not by choice. But no complaints. Hell he graduated hs in 67. Still alive because he inlisted and was a peeon. He loved the people. I am not meaning any disrespect. He just hated having to enlist. Sorry for the rant.. I respect everyone in the military and would do anything for them... 99% of my family served... sorry just needed to vent..... just awesome tools and he did steal some snapon ratchets and a devilblis paint gun or was given them.... I have them all. He won't talk about it except he learned a lot from the Japanese body work and food. He came from a small town in ohio.

I recently got one of those KTC pliers.
Personally I find pliers, like slip-joint pliers, gets the job done for maneuvering most spring band clamps. The KTC AE921 comes out only occasionally.

Agreed. It's happened to me a few occasions. The first time it happened I thought I ruined the tool. All it took was loosening the fasteners on the side rail and it freed up. For an occasional tool, I can live with it. Yup, I prefer the pliers as well.

That's a good question! I'm gonna look for the KTC product card and look for the COO. KTC doesn't hide COO.
FWIW, KTC released this tool back in 2009.

It's really flexible and doesn't take a lot of torque load before it starts to twist, like shown above in 48548's photo. So, it's only suitable for low torque applications. I've had mine for years, but only used it a few times.

I was supposed to go this April, in hopes of being the first to get video footage of Ko-ken's factory.
I had booked my tickets and hotel stay, but 2020 threw a mad curve ball.

This literally is the first video footage of Ko-ken's factory, ever!
In the end, Mr. Takanokura, Factory Gear's president, encouraged Ko-ken to create some form of a public tour of the company, and have a hall for showcasing the company's history and accomplishments.
