Help ID Hobart Welder

I am looking for my first welder and I found one one craigslist that I may pick up. He said it is a Hobart Handler, but said no numbers other than that on the unit. Works on 120V and includes gas bottle.

He wasn't sure of the age, but does this seem good for a starter welder? When I googled I saw hobart handler 120,125,135,140... Is there just a plain hobart handler model?

The original Handler was just Handler, no numerical designation. It would be more than 10 years old at a minimum, likely around 15 yrs. They've made some real strides in electrical design on these little machines in the last few years, unless it's just dirt-stinkin'-cheap I'd hold out for something newer.

OK thanks for the insight. It is being offered for $300 including the gas bottle, what say you welding people?

I'll mainly use it for autobody repair for the time being.

i have one thats 15 years old, & i love it, where is it? if you dont want it i do!!
for 300 bones its totally worth it for a back up to my handler

What do you use yours for? Is it decent for sheetmetal work or will it blow holes through it?

I'm going to pick it up, excited to get started. My first project will be welding on a replacement front reinforcement to my VW rabbit.
