While I was doing a little detective for info on a QR 325 with a blank serial # plate, I searched the Quincy parts manual library looking for a ROC that matched the part # on the crankcase, with no luck. I noticed a big void in sequential ROC numbers, so I contacted Quincy. Here is their reply...

"325 ROC's went

15-16-17-18-100-101-102- etc

during Colt ownership, documentation did not seem a priority."

It appears stamping serial / ROC numbers on the info plate was also not a priority! :dunno:

You may find the ROC stamped into the end of the crankcase where the belt pulley is attached.

True. A little more background on said 325...a fellow GJ member found a CL ad for a Quincy pump with not much other info than photos. The info tag was blank (no ser.#, ROC, model) One photo showed the part# on the crankcase as 5503-001 so I knew that the pump was a 325, but searching all the available parts manuals, I could find only 5503 or later ROC's with 5503-003. The info tag showed 'COLT INDUSTRIES' which changed their name to COLTEC in 1990, so it had to be pre-1990.
He can check ROC on the crank when he see it in person.

Found a reference to 5503-001 as the crankcase for SLT 7.5 pumps
Document id 50121-100, feb 1986.
According to some notes:
"The QE series has a "SLT 7.5" pump. This is for both the 5hp and 7hp motors. "
I can check for the number on my crankcase this weekend since I have a QE-5.

That is very interesting. Scroll down to post # 991 here...

This is by all accounts a QR series pump. I have to assume that Quincy used the same case for both pumps.
I assume that the QE was the predecessor to the 'Air Master' and QT pumps.

Also in my notes
The QE -> QT line "evolution/upgrade" was done for cost reasons and that the QE/SLT compressors are "Pretty much bullet-proof".
The bottom end of the pump is the same as the QR without the pressure lube bits.

I remember looking at my QE5 to see what it would take to convert to pressure lube. At the time, I didn't think the crankcase had all the necessary holes. Maybe they did a run of 5503-001 castings for the QE compressors, but were able to machine them for the QRs?

First two pictures are of the SLT pump front and right side.
Second two pictures are of the 325 pump front and right side.

The 325 has a big hex head plug on the front, and oil fittings on the side.

The SLT block, 5503-001, looks the same overall, except for the machining for the oil fittings.
