Hello. Does anyone know of a good source for Saylor Beall rebuild kits? I am looking for rings gaskets, and a new set of valves for the 705 pump.

+1 -- I've got a 755 running like a champ, but list like that would be good to have. Prob. avail. from SB direct though. Did you try that at all?

Generally compressor manufacturers wont sell you parts if you have a distributor in their area or if you're looking to spend 5 grand on a stock order.

I want to get this thing running. It was given to me and just needs and overhaul on the head, but I wasnt sure on just breaking the glaze and new rings, sounds like a good idea to me.

When we used to rebuild pumps like the old Gardner Denver and Worthington piston pumps that we couldn't get factory replacement parts for, the aftermarket parts actually worked very well. We ordered from this one place, I forget the name, where they actually CNC machined new valve bodies.
Most gasket material is going to be close enough to OE not to matter. Just make sure you have a good scrapper and sand the head to cylinder surface ending with a fine sand paper. With the SB valves, you can usually reuse the old ones but just get them professionally lapped (You'll understand how they come apart.) Always use red loctite when you reassemble and watch the way you put in the valve springs (they are usually in a cone shape.) With IR pumps (T pumps), its always good to get the valve plates professionally relapped (non blanchard.) With Champion R series pumps (non advantage series) they just use standard crush washers to seal in the pocket valves so those dont have to be Champion brand.
As for rings I havent experience any better performance from O.E. rather than aftermarket. Just a really good hone job with proper cross hatching and using a non sythetic non detergent for the first week or so should seat the rings fine.
Thats all I can think of right now. Anymore questions feel free to ask.
Note: I worked on industrial compressors for 5 years. Everything from what you have to 900 hp steam turbine driven Joy centrifugal compressors.

Thank you for the insight, I was asking because a friend of mine pointed me in the direction of a company that has valve sets for the SB at like half price, I was weary just with the cost difference.
There are lots of chines junk floating around I would spend the cash for OEM. SB707 pump is $2000 from SB but the chines knock of is like $600 and they leak oil.
There are good after market parts and I'm sure that there is some junk too. REMEMBER the compressor manufactures buy lots of the parts from some one else. I'm SURE that Saylor Beall is not making piston rings, they are buying them from some one like TRW or Hastings etc....

Yea and a lot of places are making aftermarket parts in the US. These guys are actually down the street from me. It wouldnt hurt calling up and asking where their parts are sourced. http://www.psiparts.com/

2 good sources for aftermarket parts for just about everything air compressor related is ICC (Independent Components Inc. in Hempstead NY) or PSI (Parts Service International in Westfield, MA). Both have great quality aftermarket parts for air compressors. I have used them for nearly 16 years and I have never had issues with either.
