What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Painted the cart for both the portable air compressor and the generator. Both of these carts were constructed of repurposed steel and casters.

The paint gives it an appearance equal to the finest Chinese product, but with American black oil based paint.

Got a wood vise installed on my table saw outfeed table.

My new Sliding Compound Miter arrived so I've started the modification of my work bench.

I'm about to remove the fixed wheels from my drill press stand and put on removable ones.

Drink so more beer...the smell of that Applewood smoke on that pork **** is making me hungry

Used some scrap wood to make some shelves, moved the fridge, and cleaned the carb on my snowblower. When I used it the other day the engine was surging if the choke wasn't at least partially on. No more surging at full throttle, but it still surges at half throttle so I might need to adjust it Abit, but I'll run some gas through it and see first.

If it's a Tecumseh Snow King, set the main mixture first at WOT (fully warmed up, and you may need to adjust it under load), then set the idle mixture. 1/8 turn at a time and let it stabilize a bit between adjustments. When you're done, you should be able to flip the throttle open at idle and have it go right to full speed with only a teeny hesitation. Snow Kings can be finicky with surging, but all you need is a little patience to get them smooth.

I made my first network cable in the garage today. After 33 years in IT I've never made a network cable. I put a tool on my list from the kids for Christmas this year and I made my way through the obligatory learning curve and made a cable that my middle kid is testing right now. He's getting a stable GigaBit connection so all is good.
I don't know how much I'll use it going forward - it was just one of those things I had to do. I do have bulk cable in the attic so I can take advantage of it.

Took apart a 25 year old battery charger that was making all of the right noises, but wasn't charging. Tested continuity everywhere, disconnected and reconnected all of the wires and cables and put it back together - and like magic, charges like it is supposed to.

Moved my snowblower and in doing so, noticed that the chute/impeller half seemed kinda wiggly. On the assumption that it shouldn’t be wiggly, I investigated



Found that three of the four tabs used to bolt the impeller half to the motor and wheels half were broken off. Each corner has two tabs.



Top left in the picture is completely torn off. Bottom left is ok. Top right and bottom right are each missing one tab.

Fortunately, I had enough gas left in the tank to do some welding



Not pretty, but should hold, probably out-live me. Figured since it was already open, I’d put new belts on.



About this time, SWMBO walked in to the garage.

SWMBO: ... What’s that SMELL?
Me: Money. Normal people would have bought a new snowblower today. Fixing it is almost free, since I already have the tools.

A bit later, back together and ready for whenever we finally get some snow around here

Thanks, it's a Briggs pro series snow blower with a 2100 series engine. It's a little bit of a pain to get to as you've got to remove covers to get to anything. I'm down to one since I sold my old 24" ariens pictured next to it. This beast really makes the old ariens look tiny. [emoji12]

hello, i just picked up a prentiss vise for cheap the other day, on the side of vise it is labeled "no. 71" but can't seem to find anything about this vise online. it has a trigger on the base of the vise that acts as a quick release so you can move the jaws quickly. ill provide some pics and any info on vise is greatly appreciated!

Gonna put the final coat of primer in the crafts room so I can punt her table top back down there.

Then back to cleaning up & organizing the scrap steel in the garage. Smalls go into a milk crate then some go into the cart then rest up into steel rack. The ends need to be squared up or cut to fit the most likely suitable spot for it. At what length should I just punt the cutoffs.......

I recently bought a 1994 Ford F150 long bed pickup. It runs/drives and stops but the interior is rough. I removed the broken instrument panel surround today. I have a new one but I plan to replace the dash lights with LEDs. I am also installing a new fuel switch but I'm leaning toward eliminating the rear tank.

Threw away some trash and then made this little piece of welded wall art with a scrap piece of 20ga, a broken chisel, and wrench that I have about 6 more of. It’s me, my wife’s, and son’s first initials.

Drilled a 1/4in hole in the screen on my ZRX near the top edge so I can loop the safety tether for my new Akaso camera through it.

No - I did not. I looked at that but did not get the tool made for them. Actually the tool I have will work with the pass through connectors it just won't trim the ends. For now though, I have a 50 pack of the closed connectors and might go to the pass through once I use these up.

When you set out to just change a rotted off dip stick tube on the old plow truck...

Needless to say, that took forever, since the remains were rusted solid to the block. In the process found that there was a brake line just ready to pop, replaced that. Trying to bleed the brakes, the bleeder was rusted solid to the caliper, no rescue, but the caliper was lazy anyways. So, new calipers too. Figured can't only do one side. While I was at it, saw how poor condition the sway bar link was. And while I was already in there, why not the (completely void of oil/gas) shocks too. Oh, and the vacuum lines for the locking hubs. Pretty much fell apart in my hand. I mean, the truck was cheap enough, but I think no one ever fixed anything on that thing before I got it! Oh, did an oil change too quickly. Feels like a new truck now. And that was really only the front end. Still have to do the rear...and POR the rust before fluid filming it, just to get a few more years out of the wreck.

I mentioned earlier, I finally used up most of my wood scraps pile on a recent project. I reduced a 4' x 4' area on the floor taken up by half-sheets of wood and 2x4s down to 2 5 gallon buckets of nubs. I took the buckets over to a friends house and used the nubs to feed a fire in the fire pit, lol. Had a medium-size bonfire to warm my family while they tubed down the snowy hills. Came home with empty buckets! It's finally all gone.

Continued digging through boxes of family storage. It’s a never-ending project... Some of it has been in storage for 30 years... But did get some things tossed to the garbage and freed up some space!

Damn dude! After having done all that and knowing you have to do the equivalent on the rear I'd take on the truck like a personal challenge saying, "HELL NO, you're NOT beating me. I WILL win!" Just keep it and repair/replace stuff til it's reliable.

Either that or take out the antenna and drive a new truck under it!
