So, what did I buy?

My initial thought was a long flathead screwdriver with a long bent tip.

However, I don't think it is a screwdriver for two reasons:
1) The flattened "tip" portion is inordinately long and thin and would not be very strong.
2) The way the shaft goes into the handle seems to suggest the tool could not handle much torque. (It looks more like a file handle, although the shaft is firmly embedded and does not want to pull out).

Marks on the very end suggest that possibly the flat part might have been cut or broken off? - not sure. (see 4th photo)

Overall length is 14-inches. Shaft diameter is about 1/4-inch. The flat at the end is 1/2-inch wide. It has no text, symbols or numbers.

Looks like it would fit into this family.
I believe these are carbon scrapers.
