Some odd Blue Point wrenches. They are unmarked except for the size. Came in a Blue Point bag. They are a mix between the Supreme and the Regular raised letter DOE wrenches . They have the slope of the Supreme handles but have the body of the regular DOE (length, thickness of head and shaft). Probably date from about 36-37 as the supreme and DOE ones made in this era have the same measurement.

Yeah I know it’s 30s though because online it said the ones with the ground down looking type sides on the shank were I think 35-37 so yeah later 30s for sure.

A early to mid 30s set. Models X**, both ends have the same opening. This is a odd colored bag, all the ones I have seen from this era are black. even the backing color on the background of the print is different.

I have a lot of these. The variation in length and depth of offset is enough to make me wonder if they weren’t hand bent, especially in the early years. This is one area that Alloy Artifacts has wrong. It states they were phased out by 1939. I have a 1940 5/8” model. Nice collection you have. I have yet to get the x14, x28, and x22 in any configuration. I have one 1931 x30, one x24 and x26, and at least three or four each of x16, 18, &20 in various lengths of drop.

These are fun to collect, usually cheap, and are some of the first Blue Point wrenches made. Date range (26-27) thru (42-43).
The mid 20s x series have a distinct offset which is much larger than post 1927, they are shorter. I have not seen an x series with a 27 date code. The 28-29 x series are somewhat longer and have a date code with 28-29. the x-30 appears first in the 1928 cat.. In general, the lengths get longer thru the mid 30s and after 1933 they stay the same. But exact lengths are often somewhat different than whats listed in the cats.
1930s: Some of the early 30s have date codes, but in about 1930 most of the wrenches were stamped (pat no 1424069) or (pat no 1424069-1). In about 1937-38 (made in USA) stamp was added.
So, 20s, no pat no, no made in usa. Early 30s pat. no, but no USA, late 30s and early 40s, would have made in USA.

True of their Boxocket line, also. The “Made in USA”, once added, was originally on the opposite side of the Boxocket label, gravitated to the side, and about 1946 was added to the Boxocket label. Those wrenches ended in 1959. The change from the back to the side was about 1939. It was added about 1934, I think.

Got these yesterday from the pawn shop. Going to clean up the double box end really well if I can figure out a way to do it and not scratch it up too bad. I want to see if it has a date code on it. The 3/8 wrench doesn’t I’m guessing it’s probably from the 1950s.

I bought a box of tools cheap on FB Marketplace (for a SO #1 offset handle in particular) but included was one of these, and it felt good in the hand, so I picked up a few more on EBay. They’re not perfect (a few have owner notches/ doubles one has different script than the others...but they were cheap!) I don’t know too much about BP tools, but i have been lately been checking out info, some of their stuff, like those cool old pouches. I think these are from the 30s or 40s.

Maybe 25 years. I do not think everything exists, I don't collect it all, no pliers, not to may cats unless they are a very good deal. Advertising items unless very old.

Blue Point NAF-39420 (Naval Aircraft Factory) 19-1/2" long 9/16" opening. Probably would date early to mid 1930's. No date codes or Pat. number, no made in USA.
Probably the same as the Blue Point W-950 made for Wright Motors J5 and R950, for cylinder to base hold down bolt nuts.

I'm an old guy who breaks very few tools over the past sixty years and this one giving up that easy was a surprise. It is a 1" and I put it on a cast iron soil pipe cleanout plug and hit it not too hard with a rawhide dead blow hammer. It shattered cleanly.

Probably too brittle. The heat treating process may have been wrong. Not likely to get a warranty replacement!

I had a Ward's Master 1/2 combo shatter with I tried to work the slight bow out of the beam. It was like glass!

M-40 Blue Point 9/32 driver offered from 1939-to the mid 1940s shown on top and a very rare M-40 Blue Point 9/32 driver offered in 1935 and 1936 on bottom.

Does that imply that it's from '35-'36? I'll bet the handle was clear when it was new. I have not tested it to see if it flashes. I doubt it will.

They were with one of those little magneto wrenches that has the fold out gauge.
