Bob, a lousy tape and clamp job plus not drilling a pilot hole did cause one set of holes to be out of alignment. Die grinder solved that quick enough.

Thanks Mark. Yes having the compressor ready and both hose reels in action makes me feel normal. Also I’m glad to finally put that “thing” into action.

Thanks Jim.

With the cold weather there’s no hurry in painting the tonneau cover. I need to get it out of the way so the SL roof dolly came down from the loft. Perfect.
IMG_2111.jpg

With the cover on the dolly, I looked at my stack of 80/20 and thought I need a cover rotisserie/dolly. My friend that’s going to spray the cover checked to see if he could reach the center. Nope, hence the rotisserie. I’m using parts that are used at the length as-is. I did need to cut some angle for brackets. I heard about a guy cutting angle with a miter saw only for it explode in his hand. IMG_2112.jpg
No way I’m doing that so I used a piece of wood to hold the angle in place.
Because the fasteners are 5, 6, 8 mm and 1/4”, it’s been fun trying to get everything together. The brackets and fastener Tetris caused the project to take all weekend. IMG_2124.jpg
I will detach the cover so I can place the rotisserie right side up and figure a way to adjust the tilt. Just as I was drilling last hole for a caster, IMG_2122.jpg ****!!!!! Luckily it was easy to get the tip out. Snapped in two places. IMG_2123.jpg

Thank you all for Christmas wishes. I asked Santa for a red Vette but only got a bag of Red Hots.

My neighbor and I usually clean our section of roof off once a year but somehow time flew by. This morning 90299bfc3876c46b8378e60342d7b319.jpg a good 1” off muck under a bunch of leaves and a lot of overgrown branches. Hours later 0c2f3b2d13f75f7a3807c79ceeb43c04.jpg I had enough acorns to pay off the national debt.
While I had the neighbor’s help, he helped me set the tonneau rotisserie upright. I was using make shift props to hold tonneau level while I fabbed a gusset. When closing up for the day, enter my nomination for the Darwin Award. Why not hold tonneau up with lift until rotisserie is sorted out. 64e966cf530669ced1c22500b29d10d9.jpg

Darwin be damned, sometimes you got to improvise with what you got. We’re you wearing safety shoes?

I think he said something about safety shoes tripping him up so the roof really not a good place!

I’m just glad the lightbulb turned on. Of course, always wearing my safety shoes.

The roof was fine, it was the 37* in the shade on a metal roof but thankfully they have those toe socks now.

Where the "H" did you get that 80-20? That stuff's expensive.

Yes it is unless you’re cheap like me. Craig, CBAcres found a business reduction sale for a firearm manufacturer in his area. The 80/20 was one of the lots. I got a pretty decent amount for $100. Probably over 100’ total (various lengths/sizes and assortment of hardware and accessories. It will be used in my next big project.

Finishing up on the roof cleaning, we kind of cleaned the gutter yesterday but there was a lot of muck. With freshly charged batteries, the Makita 36v blower did quick work. Unfortunately everything below has muck splatter on it.

With the tonneau supported by the lift, I was able to pull the wonky rotisserie out. Switched out or swapped several pieces which made it a lot better. Used 5/16” carriage bolts and homemade angle brackets to make joints stronger. Also switched out casters for something more suitable. You would think plastic casters rated for 10 lbs each would good enough. 60a114735a0ba64cb8e5593ac0471ad8.jpg
I put a plate at the hinge point but didn’t like it so I came up with this bracket that slides and can be locked in almost any angle. 8eb9c83ae7607764cfcfee03f52136f1.jpg The angle brackets and adjusting brackets were sliced out of the door frame from the PO office to shop door. 9 years later, I’m still using stuff from the original shop demo.

Really liking the Might Vise.

Sand that joker down and shoot it.

Nice work!!

What a way to start off the new year!!

It’s be great if you’d leave it off the truck until after your visit here, it’s a lot easier for me to search truck to make sure nothing in my shop is trying to hitch a ride out.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Well the trip to the mountains ended in PPST. (Piss poor ski time). Great snow, pitiful body. Unfortunately I’m not 30 anymore. With snow falling every day, we decided Florida is a better place to be so came home two days early. Now I have 3 days of QST.
Today was housecleaning. Putting these bins to good use. 8c5120a9130e49ac626fbab217fbb06c.jpg
I was able to get all my spools of wire and the spool rack in the bin. I did have to trim down the pipe a little. 6df41a903d719608d51cc83b2065ecee.jpg
Last up was moving all my sandpaper stock to the 3M cabinets. c9d1d82fda0645bf82392c2ed6300069.jpg72804c61ea371c48c4b0ef1abcc292c4.jpg
Tomorrow will be “find the floor” day.

Housecleaning continues. Making good progress but with open floor space, it makes the mind wonder. Since all the sandpaper isn’t in in the laptop cart d892ec0522b6679537cc3011fa96b6f8.jpg
I decided to disassemble for more room. 7580d2f723332d9dc937a03955d37c8a.jpg. I’ve come up with a great use for it but that’s later.
I also sold the old air compressor and Taiwanese 14” bandsaw. More floor space.
Finally order longer hydraulic hoses for lift. Now, with the far post, the hose runs overhead. Project 246 done. ddf2fd2f485ab8a9adef18f697287946.jpg
Make sure not to have the lift up and the other end of the hose unattached, oops. 6405add7514c202053879b8a8b5081b3.jpg

A hydraulic spill can ruin your day if there's a bunch of cleanup involved. A hydraulic spray under high pressure can be a lot worse if you are in its path. Sounds like it was just a mess this time because I didn't see any gory pictures with fingers pressure-jetted off (I know you would show us!). LOL.

Nice work with the housekeeping. Its great to check them off the list. And you doesn't like more floor space?!?. Keep up the good work, but try to keep the oil where it belongs!

Project 119 vise stand wheels done.....finallyde580b341c3204e86f65d2efd8152888.jpg. With open space and all the right tools, what would have been a tedious project, this was whipped out in short order.
I’ve also decided not to use the big work bench with the green Lista cabs underneath so....d6c9ba08f3b7b8c4db7ca622cfb2312d.jpg some shop tetris. The cabinet with DP will be the new bench so DP needs to move. b7c70d06ac38386e3b332618a713dd3a.jpg great thing about these cabs are their modularity and robustness. 7434c20a0cbeb129c3e1700617d8de24.jpg. Casters, casters, casters, a shops best friend.
Last, mark, shear, brake, and roll, a long needed welding cable hook. 6ffd60d6d647240d1bd68175fa189bb3.jpg Again with all the right tools, ez pz.

Thanks for checking in Mark. Yes, just a mess since the only pressure was the weight of that sides lift arms.

With all those project checked off your list you can take some time off and come to So Cal for a visit and bring me that safety suite you have designed for me. lol

In my world getting one project out of the way only leads to 3 more for the list.
