I am looking for any International wrenches, sockets, misc hand tools. I am trying to put together a complete set of International tools to go with the tool box that has been promised to me.

If you don't know, Wright tool Co. made hand tools for International Harvester in the 70's until the mid 80's. They look just like Wright tools but they have "International " stamped on them.

Thanks

Seen a 3/4 Ratchet IH (Wright 6400) and a mix of what seemed a complete set of various brands some of which were Mac and others all in a case. However the guy at the flea market had a $300 price on the box but he might be able to be talked down. I personally have an incomplete set of 7, 3/8 deep that seem like Wright.

Brad,

I too am seeking International Harvester tools of the same vintage as what you are looking for. They are pretty scarce, but they are out there if you really search.

As a side note, I have aquired some International Harvester tools that were made in Taiwan and are probably from the later 70's. (my guess anyhow). As you have probably seen, the Wright made tools are in blue boxes. The Taiwan tools that I have are in red boxes.

Good luck in your search. If I turn up any extras, I will let you know.

I saw some on E-Bay recently, I think I saw some individual sockets going for $30+ a pop. Saw a 3/4 set go over $300. I was looking to buy a 1/4 socket driver because I thought it would be neat to have one, it went for $75 :spit:. I wish I could give you some help but I don't have any, but when I go to the flea market/garage sales I will keep an eye out for any.

I'm looking for them also. I have a couple wrenches from the 60s/70s, and then a couple of much older ones.

Brad,

As you have probably seen, the Wright made tools are in blue boxes. The Taiwan tools that I have are in red boxes.

Scott

Scout, I have an almost complete set in a red box that is all Wright/International, not Taiwan. Do you have any evidence that says this is not a correct set (other than what you have seen of course)? I have only seen one other set in a red box and it had Taiwan tools. I havn't seen any blue box sets. Do you have any catalogs that show the red sets?

I have quite a few IH tools made in the 70's that were made in Taiwan. My 3/4" drive set was made by Wright though. When you see IH tools on ebay they normally go for big money. It is not uncommon to see single sockets go for $20+ each.

Guys,

Thanks for your responses. These tools are hard to find. And it's usually only one or two pieces when you do find them. If any of you come accross some that you already have and are willing to pass them on, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Like I said, I have been promised a MINT box set (chest & cabinet) so my goal will to someday have a complete set of tools to put in it!

Heres a few questions I have if any of you know.....
Do any of you know when Wright started making tools for IH?
Do any of you have any IH tool catalogs? I have one but don't know what year it is from. I assume IH must have come out with a new catalog each year? I'd like to compare mine to others to see if there is anything different.
??? forgot the rest of the questions I had...Prabably think of them later.

Thanks

Do you have IH wrenches that say Taiwan on them? Or sockets or what? Curious about that.

I have a entire 3/8" drive set that was made in Taiwan. I think it was made in 1980. I will have to find it and take some pictures.

I have one of these sets also and agree with the 1980 estimate of age.
Off topic, but I believe the best avatars have either Scouts or blondes in them.
