This is a long shot I know but someone may have an idea. I've had this I'm guessing 1950s electric clock I got years ago. Inside is a round fluorescent bulb, clock and motor is fine but the motor turns a colored disk that has fallen apart. It's 9.75" diameter by 1.75" on edge. That's the part needed. Any idea where I can get something like that? I can get thin clear plastic cake pans, but I'd also need translucent plastic tape, 1.5" wide in different colors. I'm thinking I could then fabricate one using what's left as a pattern.
Any ideas thanks in advance.20210201_154601.jpg20210201_154635.jpg20210201_154644.jpg20210201_154907.jpg

The original disc was probably acetate which got baked by the fluorescent lamp. Acetate gets brittle over time anyways but the heat did it no favor.
You can get sheets of clear butyl at any hobby shop and they will have all kinds of Mylar films in clear and translucent (to cover model planes) to build your new dial. You may even be able to paint the colors instead of using a film. Take the parts in to them and show them what you want to do.

I found a disk the right size. Now I need to find translucent, not transparent colored plastic tape.

I'm with Mark [astroracer] I think paint is the answer, I'd check with some local sign painters/shops, also works for the tape/film as light up signs is the same application. Glad you found the disc, as my suggestion would have been to vacuform the dish/disc (again sign shop). Harry

Thanks for great ideas. Yesterday I bought a translucent trash can and food containers the right size. Paint probably the way to go.20210205_182142.jpg

Most back-lit signs I see use acrylic (either white or tinted), and then have vinyl cutouts. I'm not sure about translucent paint.

But an art supply shop will have gel paints that can be applied to clear materials to simulate stained glass. That would work prefectly.
