You say that you want more power - but do you need more pressure? If you are at 2K psi that is enough to clean most things - you probably really want more flow - that 4gpm unit should do the trick.

Before you buy more power be sure your water supply will pump out at least that volume of water. 5 gal bucket and turn faucet on. It has to produce about 5 gal in one minute. Check out ACR, in Easton Pa, askfor Tom Look for proper pumps; CAT, General A/R.

Forget about who assembles the unit. The company who has the name on it rarely manufactures anything but maybe the metal frame it's mounted on.

You want a Honda GX engine. You want either a CAT, Comet, or General pump - AR can be OK too. Triplex type.

Stay away from chinese engines driving chinese pumps.

If you have a Northern Tool in your area, the North Star brand. Best value in a good unit.

You might want to contact a Hustler mower dealer or go to Hustlerturf.com and see what they offer. The bigger units have Honda engines on them. I know they are pricey though, but have a good warrantey.

I can't agree with this statement any more. Personally I have a rental quality pressure washer with Honda GX motor and triplex General pump, it is only 2500psi and it is more than adequate for any homeowner needs.

Cheaper box store motors/pumps are overrated in my opinion. What is your specific use case a homeowner that a 300 PSI pump won't work. Do you need to strip paint from equipment?

The simpson is about right for its price.

Your buying a pump and a engine, that would be my focus.

I only know Cat and General Pumps, and will only buy a PW powered by a honda.

My largest is a DeWalt, powered by a honda with a Cat pump and is belt drive. 4200 x 4.0gpm. For a consumer grade machine, it will get some work done. I have a Simpson too, Honda, dont recall the pump. Its small, 2200psi, has a lawnmower honda on it.

I really like the Mit-t-m brand of PWs. They usually build a good unit, and they are priced accordingly.

I should share, I use the big machine for cleaning concrete, stripping paint, degreasing really nasty stuff.

The simpson is my General Purpose got to. I also a have a nice 120v Dewalt, that I keep at the back door of the house, for general cleaning of whatever.

What do you guys think?

I probably have this exact setup, but a steel cart:

https://www.pressurewashersdirect.com/Pressure-Pro-E4040HC-Pressure-Washer/p1513.html

It's roughly 2x the cost of the Chinesium ones you linked to.

It puts out the water. It'll give you a workout. Better have 2 hands on the lance when you pull the trigger. I let someone borrow it, and the response was "holy ****".

I pretty much only use the medium tip with it. Might be able to cut stuff with the red tip.

or this belt drive for the same money and local pickup, likely the same Honda and Cat pump, at the Homey Depot. I gave $850 for this one as a return. It was basically brand new, but someone had put water to it.

The big box stuff might have a unique pump.

Brand name, but value engineered.

The orange store had a gas powered orange pressure washer with a name brand blue pump on it, but that pump was unique to the orange store and essentially not repairable.

I'd verify the pump number before buying one from the box store.

Don't have a recommendation for a PW, but I will say check to see what Zoro carries cause discount codes are relatively easy to come by. i was looking at some PWs earlier this year (Didn't buy anything yet) and the base price from Zoro was close to or as good as anywhere else and then slap 15-20% off it was a no-brainer to buy from them.

Looked at those stihl pumps a couple weeks ago in Ace hardware.

Pretty paint job covering cheap chinese engines and pumps.

Solid advice. I have a Simpson with a Honda GX390 and a CAT pump on an aluminum frame. Great unit, tons of cleaning power. It was somewhere around $1100 give or take.

I have the Simpson mentioned in the Op. it’s been a good unit. No issues in 50 hours or so.
Think I paid $1k shipped in 2019

That said I used to have a hotsy and learned some expensive lessons- like don’t keep it on and not flowing water for longer than a few minutes. The water heats up the ceramic pistons and they aren’t cheap.

Motor is fine. Haven’t had any issues with it. I do turn off the gas supply and let it die of starvation if I’m not going to use it again within a month. Ethanol is disgusting stuff
