Finally was able to get the front bolts of the valve cover off on the Escape so I got to go the front gasket and plugs today. Finally driveable after almost a week. 2080afb252b5be6587e38b9bd2c97c19.jpg0d3b0ed15f2bbc6e7751882c79801e94.jpg04f62a1844ccea94448aec2e9f1b8886.jpg

Today I did some final sanding on another meditation kneeling bench that I made and I set up my 3 Kobalt manual planers that I bought.
Im pretty proud of myself, considering I have no idea what Im doing with planers that I was able to sharpen the irons on all 3 of them with a cheap diamond sharpener and was able to get them to make some pretty good ribbons.
For what I need them to do: planing out imperfections in wood and squaring up boards that are bowed, they will work just fine for me.

Worth the time, money, effort spent. Suppression is more positive, car rolls easier. The car is a PP2 was pretty good as it was, now crisper .

Turned my tip over, trip over shopvac into a centrifugal, wall mounted unit. With the mods it performs better than when it was a roll around.
Put in a new sightglass on the compressor pump.

Did an oil change on the truck

Cleaned up the new to me parts washer

Melted some scrap lead into ingots. Makes for easier storage.

Drove the diesel into the garage and pulled the front stub axels and loosened the ball joint nuts.

Ordering ball joints, u joints, seals, and a steering stabilizer today. Truck was sitting a bit too long so the steering was stiff.

Got the deck cleaned up and a new blade on the push mower. Changed the engine oil on the rider. Checked the plug on the rider, clean as a whistle with the new head gasket. The before pic of the plug. Yes, it ran and idled with that plug.

Over the weekend, hung the air handler for my garage mini-split and poured the 24" x 48" slab for the condenser. I'll have garage A/C by next weekend. Next summer will be glorious. I'm getting too old to work in the garage in the Phoenix heat any longer.

Put a new steering gear, pitman and idler arm on the truck, then gave it the annual polish & wax, and a general top to bottom detail, it's just as clean on the underside.
Dropped it off at the alignment shop on the way to work this A.M., also had them flush the brake system since it's the same fluid that was put in at the factory 20 years ago.
115k miles on it, orig. owner.

The old girl still looks good for a 2001 !

Came home with eyes dilated worked in semi dark for a couple more hours and gave up - too much eye strain while dilated... gave up and had a couple hour nap. Eyes feel better, but I'm done...

Ummm.. Kay IIR that is the second trip in two days? Skinned knees? (Hopefully no black eye or worse)

Yesterday was just stumbling over piles of paper. No worse that walking over uneven tussocky ground. Today was a real ripper. As I was walking by, the sledge just decided to flip over in front of my right foot. Every joint from my ankle to my skull felt it. My kid helped unknot things. No visible damage. I need to flatten the end of the handle a bit.

Welcome to the cataract club. I've got one blue, and one brown tinted cataract.

Wrapped my RCF's center console in brushed aluminum vinyl. Makes it look way nicer than a huge piece of plastic that Lexus did... Not sure why they cheaped out on an other wise really nice interior.

Wasn't hard, just took my time. Looks 100x better now. I thought I wanted to get the entire piece done in carbon fiber but I feel like my tastes are changing and CF is so over used now.. it's not as cool as it was 10+ years ago. I thought about getting it done in forged carbon but then after seeing it and showing people they thought it looked like a marble/granite counter top and looked very out of place in a vehicle. I'm starting to agree.. so for now this will do.

It wasnt really in the garage, but outside of it .... I went over to the GF's house to help her resolve her leaf situation ... a little bit of side story: she got into a car accident and it left her back a little twisted up, so I went to help her rake some leaves. We've been dating for a couple months now and i knew her yard had a lot of leaves ... but holy cow was I not expecting this many. Between blowing all the leaves off her roof, and then raking the entire front and side yard, I collected 45 (yes, forty five) Hefty garbage bags full of leaves! Needless to say it was a dramatic improvement, and my arms are still feeling it.

Ripped out my custom medicine cabinet that I made back in 1998 for a complete refresh.

As you can see, I have a false "deep" cavity in the piping wall to work with so any generic medicine cabinet would never be as nice as my custom.
It was all wood and stained a light tint but over the years, it darked and looked very dingy, so I washed her and applied a coat of Zinzer to change up the look.
I then sprayed a couple of coats of Gloss White to clean it all up.

Painted the drawer hardware and the lions head drawer pull a nice gold to match the mirror door frame.

I will let it dry overnight in the heated garage and re-install it all tomorrow.

That's a pretty deep space, you could have a nice safe in there

I just finished building a loft in my workshop then got the wild idea of painting/sealing the plywood on the decking.... damn, more work than I thought...

So, I moved on to my next project.... building an elevator lift to take all my junk and hide it in the loft.... damn, more work than I thought...

Maybe, I should just have a beer and stop thinking of **** to do...

Some quick maintenance before our last ride of the season.

Pull start screws came out. The mounting ring needed to be drilled and tapped one size up.

Used the mill as a glorified drill press to make holes in rubber pads to turn them into feet for the air compressor. 76092bf5ddfaa658aa85778d434107c9.jpg
