(Have you guys caught on to my method for keeping my post count lower than Beemer's and Outlaw's yet?!)

Nope. But whatever your system is, I'd say it's been broken for the past few Months...
Mike

I’ve tried freezing books, but was uninpressed with the results. I’ve considered full emersion in alcohol, but haven’t tried it.
When you say full immersion do you mean ALL the whiskey or are you planning on holding back the good stuff?
The sixth picture is an Indian Motorcycle adjustable wrench.
What's the deal with the Indian Motorcycle wrench, with the Wakefield Wrench name on the jaw? Was that the OEM?
Correction: MOTO(no R)CYCLES.I believe that Wakefield made the wrenches for the Indian toolsets.
Are the Indian wrenches in demand?
None of them are common in the wild, and that one is harder to find than others. I don't have it and I have a small collection.I was curious about the Indian wrench as well. There is one on eBay at this moment bid up to $55.00 plus shipping.
But I'd be in the 80's if I didn't double-up my recent posts! So in the long run I am actually closing the gap.Working GREAT Lugz!![]()

Wakefield was one of several OEM's (including Moore Drop Forge and Vlchek) to Hendee, who had the contract with Indian. When Don posts a de-rusted photo, the Hendee marking will be more legible.

If you're going to keep it, Don, I'll get you started on having a "partial set" with that duplicate you see. If you're not going to keep it, and you'd be willing to trade rather than liquidate, put it in the Lugz pile until I have something of suitable equivalent value for you. As you can see, I do have an adjustable, with a script logo, and it's also rare and desirable, so don't feel obligated if you'd prefer to cash it in.

I have tried the full immersion in alcohol method and can report that it works fairly well. I could not smell much of anything after my full immersion in alcohol, or maybe I just didn't care anymore. My recollection is a bit hazy..![]()
Interesting. I assume the alcohol has to be 95% or so. Rubbing alcohol from the drugstore is usually 70% isopropyl so it’s 30% water. That doesn’t sound paper friendly but I might be wrong.
So the ink on the cover and the pages is unaffected??
.
ehhh... oops.. my attempt at humor. I was saying that immersing myself in alcohol made me not care anymore. I have not actually tried alcohol immersion on old paper items. I do agree with the fact that they can get some musty smells.
I laughed, although dry humor and alcohol are sort of oxymorons - except for in certain counties in certain states.ehhh... oops.. my attempt at humor.
I've saved a manual from cat piss by putting it in a sealed bag with baking soda between the pages. Mold should be much easier.

You can purchase 90%+ isopropyl alcohol in drug stores, wally world, etc.
Don You ****! 'Bout time huh? Congrats! Are the Indian wrenches in demand? I like the Fulton T&D set. I'm wondering who made the draw knife though. Interested to see how it cleans up. How wide is that cutting edge? 10"? 12"?

I don’t know who made it but the cutting edge is is about 16” long.

Lugz What is the wire brush for that you found on Friday?
I'm not sure, Tex, but I assume cleaning parts and tools. I find them all the time in various configurations in old toolboxes.

P-49 Spinner--Research here on GJ dug up a Jan 2014 post in which Ibgradwell asserts it "...was made by some division of Pendleton and was sold via Coast-to-Coast stores as part of their Mastercraft line." Couldn't turn anything else to up to substantiate it.
I can't think of anything to call the last item except a chain master link. I believe it has a different name but it's beyond recollection. Someone please jog my memory.
$7 for the lot.

It's PENENS Fleet. Sorry, I missed this first time around, Old Radar (by being overly fixated on the chain coupler picture in your haul). All of the 1/4-inch drive tools in the 1950 PENENS Fleet Quality tools catalog start with a P- and the 6-inch spinner is a P-49. I will post the catalog excerpt if you want to see it. I have a P-60 ratchet in my PENENS Master Wrench set. The spinner and hinge handle in the same set are a 1068 and a 1070 respectively, and all my sockets are 10xx part numbers. The ratchet is not original to the set. It was missing. Bought solo. I think the difference is straight-up PENENS (10xx) and PENENS Fleet (P-**). Incidentally, all the PENENS Fleet 3/8-drive tools in the catalog are C-*** and all the Fleet 1/2-drive tools are R-***.Might be artcraft on that 1/4" spinner post it on the Plomb thread there is member that could validate it.

I posted some excerpts at the end of my PENENS master wrench set thread earlier today, linked here.Yes, please!! Thanks!
