School me on being transitional, it is an earlier one correct? With the round meatball.

Thank you, this is my first old vice, yes it has a split nut, don't remember on the adjuster. It’s got the round meatball but it looks to me like there is the much desired split nut adjuster in front. I bet it also has an adjusting screw in back of the nut to compensate for wear.
The later ones had those features and a flatter nose.
I too admire that color. Is it Italian olive?
Haha! I gotta ship that air end out for reman. That compressor is on a cart.Well, it can't get too much use jammed up next to that big air compressor!

I have two bullet 9450's with the stuckest lock downs I've ever encountered. Made zero progress with the propane torch.
What would be the cleanest and easiest to remove sealer to put around the base with it flipped upside down to make a reservoir for evaporust?
Where's the fun in that, Shift??
Wouldn’t it be easier to get a plastic tray or bin that the base or whole vise would fit into and fill it 2 inches deep with Evaporust?
You could make a custom tray using scrap lumber and line it with 6 mil plastic film or a big baggie or a piece of that blue tarp that has a hole in it that you were saving for something...
You could also put the whole vise in a big HD baggie, pour in a gallon of Evaporust, and then immerse the bag in a big bucket of warm water. The water would support the sides of the bag letting you form around the vise before you seal the bag with the zipper.
I say warm because Evaporust doesn’t work very well at all below 60*F.
Maybe electrolysis would be better???
HD baggie?
I had it sitting in that bin but 1 gallon wouldn't get close to high enough. I'm being cheap and didtwant to buy another gallon. Cheapness is an illness sometimes.
1982fxr--What did you try on the bolts besides heat? I've always had good results with Liquid Wrench and PB Blaster.
Heat, penetrating oil, rappibg it with a hammer. Vise grips.
I'm just gonna grind the heads off. Hopefully I can remove the rest of the bolts once its off.
11b,
Where in GA do you live? I work at a rail mill in PA, and visit Roswell
several times a year. I could bring a 2 to 3 ft section of 136 or 175CR
down with. Would have to pick it up in Roswell though.
Wow! PSCO1867, I live in Snellville and work in Tucker. I am about 30 minutes from Roswell and would very much like to meet up and receive the offered RR track. I have been wondering all day where to get some from. I will PM you. Thank you for the kind offer.
So, there are several GJ members in the ATL area and many others that travel through GA. Just spit balling here but if PSCO1867 want to drop a few pieces with me, I am glad to help push them out locally to member here or anyone passing through. Anyway, just a thought.
I am actually in Roswell, so I could help store/hold for a couple people also. Would definitely be interested in buying something from PSCO1867 the next time he is down here.
Picked up this little Parker bear.
Zoomie (or others) - any ideas how these bears got distributed? Were they promotional giveaways? Bought from catalogs?
C'mon; where the hell do you come up with something like this. I'll bet if we put a $1000 bounty on one that nobody could come up with one that they didn't already have.
