Here are some of my Crescent tools.

The G-28 pliers are from my first set of tools, given to me by a friend of the family when I was 14 years old. They were used then. I added the plastic grips around 1970. I still use them.

The L25 pliers have been in my tool box since the early 1970's. I believe that I got them at a second-hand store.

The 1/2 center punch was part of a recent flea market bulk buy. It had been abused, and I have since sharpened the point and ground the flare off the back end.

Here are some adjustable wrenches made by Crescent for Barcalo and
Powr-Kraft. They may have owned Barcalo when the first wrench pictured was made. I’m not sure if they made the two locking wrenches in the last picture.

I have no idea how old (?) my 12" Crescent wrench is but it's a beast! Compared to my Proto and Diamalloy they cant compete with the heft and thickness of this one. It measures almost 3/4" thick at the jaws. My bigger 15" Proto is half as thick. It's also finished really well and the jaws have held up. No chrome or other finish, just raw.

Seems to be in great shape with little play in the jaws, I like the fact that you can tighten the spindle screw to remove play. Have never come across another adjustable wrench with jaws this thick.

Vintage USA made 12" Diamalloy on the left. 12" Crescent is way beefier:

I should be able to help you out. I’ll send you some pictures. Maybe PM me your email, I don’t seem to have it, although I have your address.

Thanks guys. It's a heavy duty one. Came in a box of stuff from an estate. Always interesting finding stuff like that. Believe it or not crescent still sells folding screwdrivers and nutdrivers.

Thank you Don!

I just received this small 6" vintage Crescent wrench (the ones with the very thick jaws). It's in awesome shape and it arrived with some machinist tooling that Don was nice enough to give as well (thank you). Apparently Don was nice enough to give me the #1 wrench.

One interesting thing, it looks like it may have had sea blue hammer paint in the inset of the wrench handle? I wonder if that's how they originally came? It's hard to see but while cleaning it up (although it was already clean) I could see blue shining in the sun when wet. here's some pics.

I posted this in general tool discussion and a member suggested I post it here.

I rediscovered a NOS USA made 15” Crescent wrench in the bottom of a spare toolbox. It actually says manufactured by Crescent Tool Company Jamestown NY USA. I have several older USA made crescent wrenches that don’t say this so it made me wonder how old it is. It’s new and tight with excellent quality. Anybody know when the Jamestown plant actually closed?

With the open throat, squared off area around the hanging hole and the Alloy markings rather than Crestoloy, likely no older than mid ‘60s.

Although the newer one states Crescent USA the finish, size, weight and most importantly the adjustment action differs from the older Crescent adjustable wrench.

I usually ignore thin nose pliers, but I was impressed with how well-made and mint-y these L25's are. Not sure what the "SPECIAL" refers to. With the screwdriver tip ground on the end of the handle, they are older than the catalog (1942) excerpt.

A tool buddy came across a $2.00 Crescent wrench board but didn’t have any 10” Crestoloy so I went through my early Crescent tools and dug him out a couple. The last picture is his new board5058EE46-E17F-4B7F-92CD-01818713303D.jpegE8C73989-CF8F-4862-BFDF-12C48C1F8349.jpeg41F18B02-DE53-47E7-9460-5933F26AAFE5.jpeg0DCDD4F4-ECE2-4B30-BA70-AE4CA7B63E85.jpegD9AD4F5D-3BED-4754-9557-B37C25650EDA.jpeg7F0C69C7-89E3-42DD-BFFF-0A563290139A.jpeg

Here's another interesting find from cleaning out Mom's house. My stepdad, *much* older than Mom, was involved in the building of the US Rubber plant in Institute, WV to support the War effort in 1942. The snips I found are engraved with "USR" and U.S. Rubber" on the grips, so I'd guess that SD was pilfering from the worksite. Someone tool a lot of time to engrave this so neatly. This was a mess when I found it but cleaned up well with a trip through a rotary tumbler I use for cleaning my shooting brass. Some buffing on the wheel and it's looking pretty good and very usable.

If anyone from Uniroyal, successor to US Rubber, wants to pick this up... call first!

I prefer to think of factory marked tools brought home from work as an early retirement benefit, sort of like an early gold watch.
first one I've seen, early multi tool?IMG_20210702_181402006.jpgIMG_20210702_181353334.jpg
Nice one. First Crescent branded one of those I’ve seen. Here are some ads I’ve been meaning to post.

Thanks for posting your Crescent tools from Down Under!
Here are a few pictures that I don’t think I’ve posted to this thread yet, but I could be wrong.

Here are some unusual items made by crescent in the Australian forge . The 4800 series shear pliers ,with 1000 volt hi viz grips , ( not a fan gave them a good work out , they tear the strands when you strip ) the second is a product made by Crescent for Clipsal Australia,A large electrical product/ component company that makes everything except cable .Now part of Schneider Electric. They are called quick connect pliers the unusual oval section rings the tps cable ( romex, I am an Australian) . They are very good , great if you have a lot of connection work second fix . Clipsal designEd them for use with their quick connect accessories in conjunction with crescent Australia in the 1990s . Crescent 4800 on left quick connect on right

I picked up a number of Crescent-branded DOE's today. I'm sure that they were made in the Barcalo plant after the consolidation. They clearly have Barcalo DNA!
