Anyway:

gouge sharpener (in the box!),

Any name on the rest of the box we can’t see? I find a similar one a few years back, sans box. I always assumed fairly new, but your box looks 50-60s. Thanks

Nice Fluke too, one of my co workers has the same one ( I think) in his lab tool bag

What would the spring be used for? BTW, some nice finds there, that alligator wrench is really cool.

What do you mean by "mystery Plomb?" I like the Klein driver set!

Mike

I’ll know more about them when they come out of the evaporust tomorrow. I could make out the Plomb logo but didn’t want to disturb the corroded cadmium.

3Bay—- The tack puller has a Barcalo look to it.

I have vague recollections of the ones I’ve seen having self opening jaws. The 2nd catalog pic Lugz posted seems to show one, but not the real vise. I would image a leaf, like a post vise.

Oh, now I see what you guys are talking about, I was picturing a coil spring over one of the screws.

bmw gets a **** for the overall value of the small items.
Outlaw gets a **** for the contents of the Thorsen box, especially the drive plug.
OR gets a **** for the earlier tool haul.

£15 at local carboot, could of spent hundreds as there was so many stalls

i have never seen a ratchet before with a built in swivel joint , cost me a whole £1, also a couple of other 1/4 ratchets a £1 each. most expensive thing at £3 is the laser 1/4 longer locking flexhead bit adapter on one side and takes a 1/4 socket on the other

CK tools cost 50 pence or £1 each , 32mm 6 point halfords pro socket 50 pence

that 300mm 1/4 laser tool is quite expensive new! chuffed with that for £3

And eight push drill bits in wood tube, three spear-point bits in a spool of twine inside the wood screwtop handle of an eggbeater/hurdygurdy drill (iron frame long gone).

Lesser,
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who wears gloves with holes in the fingers! I frequently 'patch' them with duct tape so I can use them for awhile longer.

My small flea market haul from today.
Cincinnati Tool C Clamp, a 1941 Snap-On 1/2” drive 1” socket, and some random other picks.

Oz, clear closeups of the working end of that ratchet? I'm thinking that's a one off modification, splicing an impact swivel adapter onto the ratchet?

It's manual, like a hand or blacksmith vise.

Ok thanks guys. I’ll have to mess with it a little bit. Looking around, it seems like the post vises have a spring, but a lot of this small clamp on style don’t.

3Bay—- The tack puller has a Barcalo look to it.

It certainly does. I’ve seen these unbranded ones before but no clue.

Neat find. What brand is that one. I know of a couple, the GM Goodwrench (import) and Weha Allround (W.Germany).

Mike

I will have to post some more on that little wrench. There’s more info on the other side.

An update:

I was able to get the old Fluke working, necessitating finding a fuse of the right size here at Schloss BMW, and cleaning up after the battery that had been sitting in it decided to give up the ghost and turn into green goo. So, I am not sure how accurate it is, the last calibration sticker on lists 1985, but still nice to see the old girl ready to go back to work.

Thanks for the comments gentlemen!

However, I'm surprised everyone focused on these (3bay the Socket was a JO Mfg Variant):

and no one was specific to this one...:

I know they are not common, and come up rarely, but I was sure of what it was the moment I saw it! The rest easily made the buy, but this one made my day! :D

Picked up this anvil earlier and I’m hoping I didn’t overpay.
I don’t know much about anvils but figured I would take a chance for a little over $1/ lb.
I’m having trouble finding information on it though. All the Vulcan ones I find have a cast logo and I guess aren’t great anvils where this one is stamped and also says Sweden.
Has great bounce back when I drop a ball bearing on it.

Ozaudio: Some interesting finds! What is that Laser tool? Looks like a double-ended flex ratchet? What purpose would that have?

Outlaw: I'd assume that Craftsman ratchet handle isn't meant to be bent like that?

I'm willing to bet that swivel is not part of the ratchet. If it doesn't pull off easily, put a screwdriver in there and I'm guessing it will pop off along with the thumb disc.
Chenry you get a **** for that anvil.

Oh, and WITH a Clamp on Power arm... :wtf:

So that's a Triple ****!

Ryan_340: Whatever suckage others have awarded, I will double it.

As far as I’m concerned,
That’s in the running for the year’s best deal.
AMAZING DEAL!

Sweden plus good bounce back = You stole the anvil! Yeah, you ****.

Mike

Actually, I've been doing some research and they apparently WERE made that way, however this one has the stamp on the wrong side, and was assembled backwards...

Mike

its pretty much a long 1/4 locking flex head ratchet but made use of both sides by giving you a bit driver on the other, they seem fairly pricey new!

Post war time in my opinion but just after. The wartime had a painted decal on them with orange in it. Love those 1/4" boxes!

I can't see myself paying $75 for that Laser wrench! It is pretty neat, if not really practical. Is it made in GB, or China? Hard to tell from the website.

The one I see on HF is a combination 1/4, 3/8 ratchet drive, which is slightly different. Around $28, presumably from China?

laser dont make tools just import, nothing fancy but semi decent, these are also locking flexhead with a small push pin on the side to unlock them, they do also do a 3/8 and a 1/4 version im sure i have seen them.

i only bought it cause it was £3, it can sit in my box unused for that price haha

found a place having a clear out, just the 1/4 drive as a ratchet

Gotcha. I wouldn't have left it there for that price, either!

Hi Oz, I think that ratchet is a Perfect Lock, there’s a 3/8 one on eBay.com - eBay item number:293677146879.

Nice weather yesterday, so took a drive.
Hit a Flea Markey in Gettysburg and picked up 2 reproduction signs for the garage.
Then hit the Flea Market on RT 30 in Thomasville, PA. Picked up these 2 Craftsman -V- 1/4 inch drives.
Also found this 1943 Starrett drill/tap conversion wheel.

Removing the "e" from "chrom" didn't help Google at all - -I found the Ebrey one. so I guess it was manufactured rater than made up.

Roy is exactly right. They started using those right after WW2 and continued for a few years. A wartime one would look like this.

Up on the board again with a stop at my favorite pawn shop. Seen the Proto and Plomb speciality caulkers that are so dang hard to find and would look good on the Plomb wall. The guy behind the counter said he got some totes of snap on and Mac stuff in and wondered if I was interested in anything. I asked how much for all of it. $350 plus tax and now I have some sorting to do. I would say about 70% is Snap On the rest is MAC and Proto. About 150lbs!IMG_20210418_175750092.jpegIMG_20210418_170024906.jpgIMG_20210418_170012013.jpeg
