I've been having to travel quiet a bit this year, so lots of extra per diem money to spend on tools.
My Lowes finally started carrying a variety of the Apex U-Gaurd bits. I've been changing out all the hardware in my house, so I don't have to wrap bits in painters tape anymore.
I got a three piece striking scraper set off the SO truck. These are made in Canada by Richard. Very very beefy and seem very verstaile.
I didn't care for the pricing on the Milwaukee die grinder boot. I know others had asked if JDT intentionally left out a hole for the forward vents. I reached out and they said this was intentional and the boot is raised in that area to allow for air flow. You can see the raised ring along the front; I guess this still allows cooling air to travel throughout the housing without allowing the forward vents from picking up too much dust and what not. I only use this tool intermittently, so I'll roll with it.
3/8" SO deep and shallow SAE socket sets and VIM magrails to go with the sets.
I love Klein's shears. They are, in my opinion, the best cable cutters for crisp wire cuts. (Provides a very clean and nice wire end for crimping terminals) The only down side was they were a little big since I work mostly with stuff around 16 awg. When I saw these mini versions, I had to have them.
Another plier rack for the growing plier drawer.
SO super stubby flex head ratchet. It is the usual awesome SO quality, but I think I prefer the Koken zeal short handle flex heads due to back drag. I might buy another to convert to a bit ratchet. We'll see.
A SO "freebie" thermos. Will probably end up as another pen/pocket screwdriver/6" ruler holder I have on my desks.
5" Tsunoda zip tie pliers. I really like how these have a gripped portion to cinch down on the zip tie before trimming. Leaves a very nice flush cut. Nicer than using SO flush cuts that haven't been broken in.
Saw tip where a guy was using these in lieu of bungee cords for various things: holding up suspension components, holding wiring looms out of the way on valve cover work, etc. Thought they were far more versatile, and were very inexpensive on amazon.
Snap On mini file set. Been lusting a while for these and finally pulled the trigger.
The promo on these was $100 off, so finally pulled the trigger on the set. Never again will I use those infernal tip changing, snap ring launching POS pliers again.
More pliers
Deep and shallow 12 point metric 1/4" drive sockets. Never needed 12 points till I started using ARP stuff on some projects.
And last but not least...1/4" drive torque wrench. I have been using my 3/8" drive microtoqrue with an adapter for 1/4" drive stuff, but I could not resist the offer my dealer made.
Here's a pic of the family all together....tempted to get the 3/4" drive version for Porsche center lock wheels....we'll see....
