Anyone able to comment on Nepros vs Vessel handles? I have large hands and I bought a Vessel Impact and a Tekton and the Tekton trilobe just fits my hand better.

But those Nepros screwdrivers are gorgeous. So I am thinking about buying a PH2 in both Nepros and PB Swiss to try them out for a bit and see, but would love to hear some input.

I have a couple of plastic handled Nepros, and like my SwissGrips better. PBs are some of my favorites. I didn't find the hard plastic Nepros handles to have really good grip or comfort. But you are probably asking about the wooden ones.

A cushioned style similar to the Tekton is Felo Ergonic. I really like those too.

You might want to try a Vessel 700 series cushion grip. I like that handle style more than the Megadora.

Those coin drivers are nice when you need them. I have a plastic motorcycle speedo/computer that has a battery cover that I use mine on. A normal screwdriver just destroys the plastic.

If you're in Japan, then you can give these a try. I tried exporting it, no dice: Bondhus branded, made in Germany (likely Felo): https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B06XZX1HZG/

Anyways, the search for the perfect screwdriver handle is a lot of fun, I have dozens. But in the end, I didn't find a clear favorite but did find dislikes (Wera, and hard triangular).

I bought this Vessel model, and am quite pleased with it. The cross point bits are JIS or JIS-like, definitely not Phillips.

Do you (or any one) have problem getting the cap off? Not that I have weak "girly hands" BUT the one I bought and tried was tough to remove the cap to access the bit storage without some help from my pliers. :(

That's readily available in the USA for less than $20 as a set of 5 screwdrivers, including that bit driver. Microcenter has the set for $17. I think I've seen it as cheap as $12 elsewhere. That's the price for a set of 5, not just 1 driver.

It gets far easier to remove after a few times.

Ya, its being liquidated. Since the product is discontinued, it might be worth it for some to pick up a set or two if they really like the handle.

It will get easier as you use it. I have SEVERE arthritis in my hands. When I bought mine I went crazy trying to get the cap off. Once I did it a few times it’s gotten quite easy.

I think it´s from Sora. This company belongs to Bondhus.

I bought those Felo Ergonics. I do not like them at all. They are too mushy. They aren't full tang. The smaller tips have smaller handles - why? Do my hands magically shrink?

I could go on...

I bought a Vessel Impacta #2 and it is fine. Nice heft since it is a striking cap, well finished. I'll probably pick up a PB Swiss 8102 D next to try out.

Those rubber handled Nepros just look really nice, I am not interested in the wood ones at all... But I do want some padding, just not as much as the Felos.

Aka,

Almost every tool manufacturer does that to their screwdrivers, they design the handles to be smaller as the tip size goes down to eliminate over torquing the tip and fastener. Its a safety design to prevent damage to the tool.

If you like Felo's tips, then check out their model 550, it's much firmer but still with some padding with good grip, it also has a full tang and hex bolster.

Hmm too many choices. I wish I could just buy a sampler of Ph #2s to try out and then buy a set.

The cap is definitely tight. The trick I use and that works for me is to hold the screwdriver such that I can apply both thumbs to the press-in things. Then the cap comes right off.

I tried out the Felo Ergonics a few years ago and had the EXACT same feedback on them. I also wound up returning them, just couldn't get over the mushiness.

Some stuff from my last few tool hauls. Merry screw pliers. Lobster Lobtex. IPS Igarashi Pliers. Asahi Wrenches. Top Handy Ratchet.

Those Merry pliers look awesome. + I enjoyed the accompanying video. It's great to get a chance to see all these interesting tools.

Where do you get those Merry pliers and the Asahi wrenches?

I got them on Amazon Japan. The wrenches I bought individually. Incidentally, they must not have been manufactured at the same time because there are slight differences in the forging of the logo and size designations.

I've purchased Merry pliers directly from NileMerry in OH once. Took a few days to ship but it did ship out of OH. Their shipping costs have gone up though since then so it may not be worth ordering from them for just one item. But they do have a a 10% discount code: SAVE10.

My 1/2” socket set finally arrived today! I’ve been patiently waiting for a couple weeks on this which makes the wait that much more enjoyable. Damn you Amazon for conditioning me to 2 day free shipping!

These are hands down better than my Stanley, Craftsman, Husky, Power Torque, and Tekton tools so far. It’s also my 1st premium brand and full set so I have no complaints.

What are the thoughts on TONE tools? Where are you guys finding them?

A fair amount seems to be outsourced but its quality stuff and priced accordingly. Not a poster brand around here like say Koken.

I get mine from amazon Japan, IMO the best amazon. Good prices, fast shipping, well packaged, good selection and they don't have the silly algorithms that constantly adjust prices. Total opposite of amazon Germany for example.

In the past they have offered some, really quite decent, Japanese made tools.

All of the newer / promoted offerings seem to be predominantly Taiwanese tools, with a bit of styling unique to Tone.

Perhaps not bad tools. Probably among the better Taiwanese offerings, but not significantly different from what are very similar tools, from the same factory, styled as Wera, or even Facom, or probably a host of other brands.

I have some of the smaller Wera and Facom offerings and quite like them. I suspect I’d be happy with the Tone too, but just be aware of what they are, don’t overpay for them, and don’t go shipping them halfway round the world thinking you’re getting a Japanese tool!

^^ I agree.

FYI, the Taiwan-made Blackhawk ratchets sold in the USA are very similar to some of the Taiwan-made Tone ratchets sold in Japan.

I recently bought a similar Ko-ken 1/4" set, with all those accessories, but in metric only. I was extremely pleased with the quality. So I bought a rail of Ko-ken 1/4" SAE sockets, removed the plastic molded tray, put both sets of sockets on Tekton twist on rails, and put everything back into the bare box. There was very little room (just enough) for the accessories in the front, once the socket rails were laying on their sides. And then I lined the top and bottom of the box with 1/16" polyurethane sheet. It makes a nice complete set that does not rattle, and everything stays in its place.

Do you have pictures? This sounds like a great idea.

I may or may not have a 1/4” metric set on the way :D. The Stanley set my dad gave me is missing some sockets and the case holds tools like a bag of beans (I moved the metric sockets to a rail or ziplock bag).
