Hello my name is Cw and I am addicted to buying boxes.

In my defense my wife encouraged my last purchase of my KR557/KR547/KR537 stack. I put the KR537 on top of when of one of my Roll-a-bench KRA300F.

I cannot help myself when I see a deal. Who else has this problem and how many boxes/cabs/chest so you have? I have roughly 14. 0e977ccd89494e3788d224fe3556f91f.jpg

Edit: do not judge my dirty *** shop. Thanks.

LOL, not a bad addiction, are they full?

Haha no they’re not full unfortunately. The big HF 72, the red and grey craftsman and gladiator box are full. Gotta start working on the snap on boxes now.

I have owned about 30 stacks or so since 2010 which, in turn, I sell when I get tired of them. I cannot pass up a Kr300 rolla bench which I see one on Craigslist especially when cheap.

Currently in my possession is:
KRA 7100 Coke machine box
A 1957 Snap on stack
K260 Stack
Plomb tool mobile bottom roller with a Craftsman Heritage top box
Blackhawk Bottom roller
Snap On Kr300 roller stack
6 Intermediate boxes
1/2 dozen hand carry of various manufacturers

Thankfully.... I've slowed down.

That KR7100 is an awesome box! I've not seen a lot of them out there.
The K260 is the classic Snappy box. The Plomb tool mobile is always fantastic. **** all of your sets are amazing, great ******** man.

I've got:
Two KR300
KR5X7 stack
Craftsman Red and Grey triple
Gladiator double
US General 72" with a junky old 26" Craftsman Home owner series top chest (my first box)
Craftsman lower box (converted to MIG cart)
1950 something Snap-On lower box somewhere around here.
196x KRA53
Multiple hand carry boxes.

I picked up both of the KR300 roll-a-bench and a bunch of metric impact sockets ( half of which were snap-on! ha) for 500 bucks. This last purchase of the KR5x7 stack was probably more than it was worth for sure but impulse and addiction got the best of me at 450.

I will slow down after I get a Taco Cart. That'll be my "last" box...... ;)

Nice collection.

I used to buy just to put my hands on them and I was also attracted to the unusual. I think my last box will be a kr1000. My latest purchase was a kr300 (the best condition out of the 6 that I've owned) with an intermediate kr420 with a kr53 full of tools for $300.

Who can turn that down?:headscrat

Absolutely no way I would turn that down. I’m at the stage of buying just to put my hands on them. They’re cheaper and easier to store than cars/trucks so my wife isn’t getting too mad at me.

No joke! I can't imagine moving all of the **** I have accumulated.

Among a sea of nice boxes, that Husky metric tool board is like a message-in-a-bottle that washed up to shore. My OCD would have that tooled up. Cool piece.

I do need to fill it in. I have to say though it is relatively hard to find the matching USA Husky Metric sockets and wrenches for that board. I have found some USA metric sockets but the part numbers don't match whats on the board.

After looking at this picture of my shop, it's motivated me to spend the afternoon cleaning up.

The good news is the younger generation is convinced they've gotta have ball bearing slides; that makes all of last century's production of Snap-on, Matco, MAC, Kennedy, et al less expensive for us old guys who don't know any better.

Somehow, I've been working out of friction slide boxes for sixty years and because I've been able I pick up older boxes here and there at reasonable prices, I finally have more drawer space than tools and I've got a lot of tools. Being able to have space for everything makes it much easier to find 'em when needed.

Why as a matter of fact, I just rented another storage unit today to gain some garage space. Lost count, have boxes in the basement, garage, sisters garage, storage unit, and now 2nd unit. I just can't pass a box up. Going to a estate sale x3 to look at boxes tomorrow . I don't need rehab just more storage space. Pray for me. Johnny Generic

I do have 2 rollers, a 1989 Mac MB1500 with a 33" Kennedy 12 drawer top box. And a 4 pc Kennedy stack at work. Plus the 25 hand boxes lol. You have a nice setup and a nice shop!

I might be messing up your collecting then, I'm not the youngest generation but I am 35 and a good working friction slide box works great to me! It is definitely more difficult to find an old Mac or Matco box though.

Having more drawer space than tools just allows us to collect more tools!

Before we moved and I was able to build my current shop I had basically an oversize garage for a shop, packed to the gills with only 3 boxes but everything else that comes with collecting. Rehab not necessary my friend!

Thank you sir! I have always admired those Mac boxes, would love to get my hands on one as well as some Kennedy boxes!

*In unison: Hi CW.

That's definitely not what I would call a dirty *** shop.

Between my Dad and I we have five 26" tops, three 26" mid boxes, four 26" bottom rollers, a 26" hand box (metal), five or so 20" hand boxes (metal), a plastic self contained cart style box, a 42" roll cabinet, a 26" home built wood carpenters box, and then various open top tool bags/boxes for task specific tools like plumbing, electrical, etc.

We're about evenly distributed between the two of us, despite my Dad having 33 years of additional time to collect. I have been on a Beach Box kick lately (not actively collecting, but I did pick up a 20" three drawer box for cheap) but I did miss out on a really neat 16" Beach in a nice metallic blue colour at the Restore.

I'll have to find pics later as this is a new phone, and "mess" or "embarrassment" doesn't come close to describing the state of our shop at this very moment.

Well I always seem to be on the lookout for top boxes, rollers and stacks but they need to be older and unique in my mind and also cheap! I have the room for additional boxes but in reality I need to get rid of stuff rather than add more boxes that I don't really need, trying to have some self control. I need to get to that point where for everything that comes in something has to go out, getting there very soon.

Currently have in the garage

Mac MB1700 roller, newer model
JC Penney/Waterloo 26" stack
JC Penney/Kennedy 26" stack
Vulcan/MBC stack
Mastercraft/Beach 26" stack
Proto 26" stack

oh and in the basement a Craftsman 26" stack.

Now the only box I willing to add is not an easy find so no more roller, top or stacks for me unless I find that one box.

BTW the dirty shop comment cracked me up :lol_hitti

...And an old ServiStar I got for free in really rusty condition which I keep telling myself that I will save...

Ideally in the future I would like to also get a K60 on top of K200; KRA300 with full set of drawers, get a red Kennedy to put on top of Kennedy roller (which might replace brown Kennedy) and may be get a SK to organize my SK tools...

Just start the 12 steps:
1.Admit you were powerless over your toolbox addiction
2. Believe that Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3.Make decision to turn you will and our livesover to the care of God as we understood Him.
4 Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of yourself
5 Admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6.Be ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly ask Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Make a list of all persons you had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Make direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continue to take personal inventory, and when you are wrong, promptly admit it.
11 Through prayer and meditation improve conscious contact with God as you understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12 Have a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, try to carry this message to toolbox collectors, and to practice these principles in all your affairs.

To help you overcome your addiction, please start with sending me your Snap On K60, Snap ON KRA-300, Blackhawk, Plomb Toolmobile and other addictive boxes. I will accept them as a punishment for my addiction and help you start stopping youts...

It sounds like you guys have quite the collection going there! Those Beach boxes are very fine examples of quality built boxes.

It really can be a full time task just keeping a shop/garage tidy. Mine is sort of and organized chaos most of the time.

Cw,
Tell us more about the two red 2-door wall cabinets you placed on opposing sides please.
-J

They are Snap-On wall hangers with tool boards inside of them, when I purchased the two KRA300 roll cabs they were butted up to each other attached to the top of one of them. Those two KRA300 came from Bell Helicopter, not positive which one of their facilities but they were part of their training lab from best I can tell as the two boxes have tags stating
" Measurement Tools For Training Only
-- NOT CALIBRATED -- "
They are just sitting there for the time being, I just haven't decided where I want to mount them and the thought of filling them up is rather intimidating because as we know Snap-On tools command a premium. I'll get some pictures of them on here in a little while.

Very nice, I love the early Snap-On boxes as they just have a lot of character especially in their original finish. The drawer pulls on the Beach box are awesome!

I started with a Rubbermaid hand box, and a the clamshell case my mechanics set came in from Sears. That did me for a couple decades while I lived in apartments. Picked up a Stanley tool box set that was the precursor to these Ridgid/Packout/Dewalt things. Then I received an older 26" Craftsman roller, which was my first real tool box. Picked up a 3 drawer red hand box from a garage sale and that became the top box.

Since then I added a proper 26" top along with a mid box, a 2nd 26" Kobalt top and bottom set, and that now houses the bulk of my tools.

Of course I also have 2 Craftsman rally boxes, the 3 drawer and 4 drawer models, a Kennedy box with a lower, another black/grey 3 drawer Craftsman hand box, 2 Husky ball bearing rally boxes (1 3 drawer and 1 4 drawer), a Kobalt 2 drawer hand box, Husky cantilever tombstone, Craftsman cantilever tombstone, 2 different Kennedy cantilever tombstones, another 26" Craftsman top box, Homak 26" top box and my Dad's original tombstone, I think a Williams?

Got a HF 5 drawer tool cart sitting in a box waiting for the garage to get cleaned out a little more so I can get it built.

Working on getting one of the rally boxes set up as a dedicated motorcycle box and I wil keep it over by the bikes on the other side of the garage. Another will be my travel box.

Sounds like you started out like myself. I started with tool bags and just socket sets in their plastic cases and just progressed throughout the years. My first actual roller box was my 44” Gladiator double stack, still have that box and I have to say the quality of metal is honestly pretty damn good. I would buy another if the opportunity came up.

I also have a Craftsman rally box I want to set up for some specific tasks.

I'm so glad/lucky that I don't have the love for red tool boxes otherwise I would be in the same boat.

I'm much more of a Lista, Vidmar, Rousseau collector and that greatly slows down what deals I find out there, preventing me from buying so many. I think I'm up to approx. 60 drawers, which sadly I think is more than enough for me.

PS> I've seen a lot more dirtier shops here on GJ, so no need for any apologies as it doesn't look too bad.

If you've got the space, do what makes you happy as long as you can afford it....regardless of the subject matter.

That is a small part of the reason I haven't committed to a garage addition (apart from the insane building costs)....it would cost way too much to fill it up. haha

32, not counting boxes for one specific tool, and not counting small under-the-seat car/truck boxes. Most are the 18" three-drawer flip-tops, which I find the most handy.

... but I'm getting better, sold a couple in the last few months, and more slated to depart. Honest!

Someday....

Right now I just have a 3 car garage, and besides all the miscellaneous junk that a garage collects I have a 44" Kobalt and my old (now my son's) 26" Craftsman.

I am shopping for a bigger box tho, which will require a rethink of how my limited space is laid out. Someday I'll have the real estate to build the shop my wife agrees that I need.
