The First Step toward Addiction Recovery. The first step of a 12-step program is to admit that you are powerless over your addiction, and consequently, your life has become unmanageable. For many, this is one of the hardest things to do. While it is important to believe in your ability to overcome your addiction, you first must admit that you have an addiction and you need help in order for things to change.

I was discussing this with another guy who said his wife had threatened to leave him if he bought any more boxes. I told him, "Another way to look at it; if your wife should leave you over the tool box issue, well, that's more garage space."

I'm so glad/lucky that I don't have the love for red tool boxes otherwise I would be in the same boat.

I'm much more of a Lista, Vidmar, Rousseau collector and that greatly slows down what deals I find out there, preventing me from buying so many. I think I'm up to approx. 60 drawers, which sadly I think is more than enough for me.

PS> I've seen a lot more dirtier shops here on GJ, so no need for any apologies as it doesn't look too bad.

I can see where that would limit your collecting, if I could find sweet enough deals on some Lista or Vidmar cabinets I would be a converter for sure. It just isn't cost prohibitive for me right now, I could probably start cleaning up these red boxes and turning them out to fund some of those beauties though.. Hmmm!

And thank you I am always self conscious about the shop being a mess, but not enough to take the time to do a complete organization.

If you've got the space, do what makes you happy as long as you can afford it....regardless of the subject matter.

That is a small part of the reason I haven't committed to a garage addition (apart from the insane building costs)....it would cost way too much to fill it up. haha

That is a very good point Jon, what's the point of having the space if you don't fill it up with things you enjoy!

You won't regret the addition when you start filling it up, but yes the cost of building a tree house right now would be enough for me to rethink it haha!

32, not counting boxes for one specific tool, and not counting small under-the-seat car/truck boxes. Most are the 18" three-drawer flip-tops, which I find the most handy.

... but I'm getting better, sold a couple in the last few months, and more slated to depart. Honest!

Dang 32 is a good amount to keep up with! Hopefully you're selling some to buy more. Robbing peter to pay paul kind of thing.

Someday....

Right now I just have a 3 car garage, and besides all the miscellaneous junk that a garage collects I have a 44" Kobalt and my old (now my son's) 26" Craftsman.

I am shopping for a bigger box tho, which will require a rethink of how my limited space is laid out. Someday I'll have the real estate to build the shop my wife agrees that I need.

A 3 car garage is a large amount of space though! I would have loved a three car garage at my first house.

What boxes are you looking at?

My wife is the reason I have the shop I have now, she agreed agreed that I needed this shop. If we would have had more money to spend I would have had an even larger shop but this was to top of our budget when we sold our last house and moved.

What part of North Texas are you located? if you don't mind sharing.

This isn't exactly about tool boxes but still related to you post. There was this successful businessman who really loved racing sailboats and had commissioned several custom race boats in the past for competing, he won a lot, racing them all over the world.

The wife (Jane) gave the husband an ultimatum, it was either her or sailing and warned him not buy another boat.

Ten months later, the husband walks in the house and places a yacht racing magazine on the breakfast table with a beautiful big racing boat on front cover, the wife asks what the hell is this, husband says its my new boat that I had custom made, she's fuming and then asks why is the boat called " Fujimo ", husband replies that the boat name is an acronym for "F U Jane I'm Moving Out "
