I bought a Lincoln AC 225 three years ago and just put it away. The best I remember I could move the Amp selector lever but today when I got it out it won't move. This welder is only about 10 years old and probably been used only a few times just looking at it. It looks new.

I have never used it but was planning on bringing it to my home for use there when I need to do a quick welding job. It is set to 90 amps and probably wouldn't need to move it anyway but wanted to see why it won't move now.

What all do I have to remove to get in and take a look and see why its frozen up ? I don't want to remove screws that are not necessary and thought someone might have had this issue before.

They are pretty simple machines. Just unplug it and start disassembling.

Before that though, I would give it a little more effort to turn. It's likely just a little corroded and you probably just need to break the bond. That said, cleaning the contacts wouldn't be terrible

Spray in some Electronic cleaner, the kind that removes oxidation from rheostats, volume controls, et., and work it slowly through its travel. Those are really robust switches.

I may spray the Electronic cleaner without removing anything if I can get it in there . If I take it apart I just didn't want to remove things that were not needed.
I did turn pretty hard yesterday to turn it without success. I sure didn't want to break it.
I will post back results.

I've taken apart my 225 for contact cleaning and to replace the leads. It is not a complex machine at all
