To everyone who expressed interest in this, thank you for your patience. I have finally inventoried just about everything from my last purchase. The only things left are plastic fasteners, pins, clips, and a bit of miscelania. I'm ready to take orders.

Please note, I would like to make some changes in ordering... Hopefully this will make everything less confusing for everyone.

The main change: order by the each, not by the pound. I have a new counting scale, may as well make use of it. This will ensure you get something much closer to what you ordered. The only exception is some items are pre-bagged, so those will go out in the bags they came in, as long as the bagged quantities are reasonable.

There is a lot of small stuff this time around. Hundreds of sheet metal screws and machine screws. These for the most part will be sold in 100s, except for some larger/heavier machine screws.

I will be offering some assortments in these products. Probably something along the lines of 100 of each item, for a sizeable discount. I'll post details here when I decide exactly what I'll be doing.

I've tried to price everything as accurately as possible. If you notice a mistake, or something looks high (or low!) please drop me a line.

I expect to statr shipping end of next week/beginning of the week after.

Please contact me via email regarding orders (alex at asmc dot net). If you have questions that may benefit other GJ members, please post them here and I will do my best to answer them.

If someone wants to place a very large order (I have production quantities of many items) drop me a line and we'll talk discount.

Right now this new stuff is only for sale here. Eventually it will all go on ebay... after I catch my breath from all the seemingly endless hours that have gone into doing this inventory. The ebay prices will be 20-70% higher than what I am offering here.

Go to my website http://www.asmc.net to download the inventory/price lists/order forms.

Thanks again for your patience, and enjoy!

Im holding out for the assortment deal at "significant discounts". So long as it isnt 100 each of everything you have in stock :shocking:

I gotta say, going through all that stuff...you must have the patience of a rock!

I plan to break them up into the categories that my storage racks are divided into. Otherwise I'll never be able to manage...

For example, Sheet metal screws
Machine Screws
Thread Cutting/Forming/Rolling/Tapping Screws

each one of the lines above will be an assortment with some of each item in that category. Yes, they are likely to be pretty large.

I gotta say, going through all that stuff...you must have the patience of a rock!

My wife is the one with the patience. I'm the one with the sleep deprivation.

gotta go to the shop now

Well, they may end up too large for my purposes, Ill just have to make my own if they are...or get someone to split it with me. Im gonna have to find a new way to store them all anyway...my 2 car is getting pretty crowded with 2 vettes, a motorcycle, two workbenches, and two tool boxes! hmm...there is some space on the ceiling though!

Alex,

I would like to see more info on getting an assortment of hex bolts and lag screws as well as washers galv and non galv..

Thinking basically 4-5 sizes of each for common household projects. Qty of 100 of each is a LITTLE high for me. Maybe more like 50? Or will I regret that in a year? :)

I'm thinking the assortments will go something like this... (see the attached spreadsheet for detail.).. I'm only going to put the headers here.

Some of these are going to be pretty large (for example, machine screws will give you almost 12,000 individual pieces) I could cut the quantity to 50 pieces of each item. Take the price for a 100 piece assortment, divide in half and add 10%. So, the sheet metal screw assortment with 50 of each item would be $53.92. (Please don't hold me to this price, this is just an example of what's possible. I haven't fully researched the discounts. Whatever the final prices are, they will be the best you can find anywhere, by far)

Nothing is written in stone here, just ideas. I would definitely want commitments from a few people before putting this together, as it would be pretty time consuming, and I would want to assemble a bunch at the same time....I would pack these in poly bags to minimize the space consumed for the most economical shipping.

The headers are below. Comments?

Mini-carriage bolts (10 items, 1M total)
Regular Price $37.10
Assortment Price (100 each) $25.97

Sheet metal screws (78 items, 7.8M total)
Regular Price $163.40
Assortment Price (100 each) $98.04

Threading Screws (52 items, 5.2M total)
Regular Price $171.65
Assortment Price (100 each) $102.99

Wood Screws (16 items, 1.6M total)
Regular Price $40.06
Assortment Price (100 each) $28.04

Machine Screws (117 items, 11.7M total)
Regular Price $265.97
Assortment Price (100 each) $132.98

Machine Screw SEMS (41 items, 4.1M total)
Regular Price $87.31
Assortment Price (100 each) $61.11

Nuts & Washers (37 items, 3.7M total)
Regular Price $82.97
Assortment Price (100 each) $49.78

I'd love an assortment of cap screws in various sizes. 40-50 each or so?

Guys, I will not be doing hex bolt assortments. There are not that many items on the list, so going through it should not be a big deal. Everyone has excel on their computer, so filling out the order forms is quick. You now input the quantity in eaches (instead of weight as before). If you don't have excel, download and install OpenOffice, its free.

What I can do, however, is give you my full range of grade 2 bolts and ZP nuts and washers, or grade 5, or grade 8 (although the bolt selection in grade 8 is not what I was hoping for)...

For screws, see my reply here a couple of posts up. If there is sufficient interest, and commitment, I will do screw assortments.

I sent in my order to you last week. If you need me to update my spreadsheet (Since the one I did was by weight instead of part count), let me know.

Thanks
Nick

I cannot seem to figure out where the "notes" legend is.

those numbers are for my use (that's the inventory day that the item was entered, in case i have some sort of discrepancy and have to go back to my handwritten list). Some of the items have actual notes on them, though.

Ah, makes sense, thanks for the clarification!

I wish you had more 5/16-18 socket cap screws available, but I may take advantage of your 1/4-20 selection. Have to look over what I'm missing.

Sorry to **** in on Alex's thread :) But I think I may have about 500 5/16-18 socket cap bolts laying around here. 1"-2". Grade 8. Black ox. If that fits the bill, let me know and I can check for sure.

btw: the work you've done Alex, is dizzying. I went through once (and I need to do so again) my humble bolt assortment, and I've already got a headache. I can't imagine the patience and attention required to have sorted all of this out.

It really is a staggering amount of work. I still have to organize all the SMS and MS. I weighed, inventoried, and racked everyting in the order it came off the skids. I have about 4 racks of SMS and 8 racks of MS, in no particular order. Now I get to take everything off and put it back on by size, so I can actually find stuff. all in a 350~ sq. foot shop.

I'll take a pic of it today to give you guys an idea of the carnage. its rather impressive.

hope its worth the effort... others are asking me if it is, and I'm not yet sure of the answer. :lol_hitti

Thanks for the offer. I'm not sure what I need right now, it'll most likely be <1". I have a big project coming up in a few months and planned on sourcing a random selection of sizes. I'll be sure to check with you if I need anything in the 1"-2" range.

15,000 pounds of hardware - cannot imagine having to sort through that! Looking through the new inventory list - that really is an impressive level of sorting and organization you must have went through!

It's lot of work... here are a couple of pics. I still have to sort the SMS and MS, but it will still look the same. Youtube video is uploading with a walkthrough, if anyone cares. I'll post that up when its done.

Thanks for the orders guys....

I want to get the machine screws and sheet metal screws moving (except SS and brass) , so I'm going to offer some volume pricing on them, as follows:

first $100: 15% off
2nd $100: 20% off
3rd $100: 25% off
4th $100: 30% off
5th $100 and up: 35% off

any less and I'm getting into scrap prices :D

Next week I'll have rivets, pins (roll pins, taper pins, cotter, etc) and plastic fasteners sorted.

I'm still up for doing MS/SMS assortments if I get buy-in from a few people.

Thanks again.

Get all those rivets and everything up!! Looking forward to a decent assortment of sheetmetal screws and that. I was going to get them from Wurth but at your prices, and the fact that I have the Durham cabinets, I've got to get them here. :)

At the MS and SMS assortment prices you mentioned a few days back, I'd be in for that (and would tack on a bolt and miscellaneous order as well)

I have some durham-style cabinets (the ones with the open holes, both in 40 and 60 pocket) but shipping to you would be a killer.

In case anyone is interested, I've put the rest of the inventory on the website.

Here is what I've added:

Plastic fasteners (in both the bolts and screws pages)
Rivets (in the screws page)
Aluminum spacers and hex standoffs (screws page)
small studs (screws page)
Roll pins, dowel pins, e-clips, misc stuff (pins page)
Threadlocker, more hose clamps (home page)

I've noticed that the new content doesn't always get loaded unless I force my web browser to refresh the page. I'm working on forcing the webserver to push out the new content each time, since I update it daily, but in the mean time, you may want to force a refresh of each page. This should only be an issue if you're looking at the web pages--the links for downloading the spreadsheets should always get you the latest file.

Thanks guys.

Two boxes arrived yesterday from Alex. I've not had time to open them - frankly I've not had the strength to carry them to the car...

USPS is not making any money on their "if it fits it ships" with Alex...

Easy to work with seller with good pricing. I expect to be well pleased with my purchase when I get the boxes open.

I've been using these boxes to ship heavy stuff too lately. I wonder if USPS is considering lowering the weight limit? I suppose since there's really no tracking for it, you won't; see a lot of big business using it. But who knows? It's the best deal out there for this type of product:thumbup:

one last bump for this. I'll be starting to list everything on ebay this week, but discount prices will still be available to GJ members.

I will be putting together pricing for screw assortments in the next few days also.
