I won a KRA-65 on eBay somewhat accidentally. Just threw up an offer not expecting it to stick. What a happy surprise!

It arrived very dirty and rough so I spent an hour with rubbing compound and a bit of polish to clean it up. It’s amazing how faded the paint is on the outside. More orange than red now. The latch wasn’t working but a bit of manipulation had it bent back into shape and snapping shut nicely.

I’m not going to repaint this or anything like that. I like all it’s blemishes and patina. I think I’ll use this box for bringing to the trailhead when dirt biking. It should fit all the typical little odds and ends nicely.

One interesting note. No snap on stamp anywhere. When did snappy start stanlijt

Looks good old_smokey. I have 2 of the KRA-65 boxes. The numbers and dates are stamped on the bottom of these boxes. One of mine is the older version that doesn't have the latch, you have to lock the box to keep it closed. The second box looks the same as yours.

I didn't see anything on the bottom either, but I will take a second look! Pretty cool little box. I think for my purposes, the later KRA-65 would be better as the upper tray doesn't have as many compartments/sections, making it a bit more versatile. But I'm not complaining!

IMG_1577[1].JPGIMG_1578[1].JPGIMG_1580[1].JPGIMG_1581[1].JPGI have always thought it was a Kennedy box but never really gave it much thought. I got it in the late 80's? I have used it for my road box. It has some weight but I throw it in what ever ride we take just in case. I've used it more helping others than I have on my ride.

Could any of you Kennedy experts tell me what era this toolbox is roughly from? I don't often see Bakelite handles with the name Kennedy on them.

Along with guards and head of a DP220 driveby. Whatcha got going on there?

Matthew
Matthew, too funny, one of my last posts on the Craftsman drill press thread was how any pic that is posted, GJ'ers dissect every possible thing in that frame even if there's only 5% of a tool visible lol.

I'll say this about the Delta pieces you spotted, what you see now will be part of the most rare 1938 Delta drill press you will ever see, once it's done and I post it.

4Lug: thanks for sharing pics how you organized your canteliever box!! these hold a ton and get almost too heavy to carry, but very nice way to store a lot of tools.

I've got this wooden gun vise and toolbox at an auction, along with similar one which still needs some work still. Apparently these were made by a local man in my area ~20-30 years ago, and the lady selling it, who was his daughter, gave me some pictures, and advertisements for it. I think the ones I got are prototypes as they are different from both each other and from the ones depicted in the ads. The piece that was originally in between the drawers was paperboard, and messed up, so I replaced it with plywood.

I'd never seen them before your photos.

This little tackle box is on FB marketplace. They're pretty proud of it, based on the $125 price tag. NMNA.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for that, yes I've seen a few pop up now and again on worth point or some of the other FB/CL/EB sites. And they do ask a pretty penny when it has the bakelight handles. That makes me curious if it's because they are uncommon or old or both. Just wish I knew if these were from the 1940s or something Kennedy may have tried around the '60s / '70s. My impression is that they are older, not just because of the bakelight, but because of the style and design of the boxes they are on with the curved and rounded sides.

For anyone that might need these. 18 dollars on ebay, I already scooped up the drawer handles.

Does anybody know who made these boxes and how old are they? How is the quality?
Looking at the drawer handles I want to guess MBC

Does anyone know when Kennedy switched from the old rounded sides to the first squared ones? 60s - 70s is about all I've ever read, but that's a huge range.

I've also always wondered when that style of drawer slide retaining clip first appeared, because it seems like at some point around the 60s practically everybody was using those...My guess is post WWII but again, that's a big range...

Where are all the Huot Hounds?

As some of you may recall I ran into this complete stack (roller, middle and top box) at the same flea market a few years ago. Guy has still not sold it. Now asking $300. This time around I got his name and number. PM me if you're interested. NO AFFILIATION! Just passing it along. Lots of surface rust on the roller, some spots on the other pieces, and yet several Huot and defunct Staten Island car dealership stickers are largely intact. If someone wanted to carefully restore this and retain those for a cool vintage look, it could be done.

Figured this fits here. Posted its own thread a while ago, and I'm still working on cleaning it up. It's a KRA-377D and I think it was made in 72 or 73. Everything functional on it that I can tell
