Cleaned off my work bench, garage is insulated, but no A/C. Was a hundred out,the insulation seems to help in cooler weather, but when it gets really hot out the garage still gets just as hot as the great outdoors if not more.

Tried to find where the oil is leaking from at the top of the Escape engine. Also changed the oil in it. Pennzoil reached out to me and asked if I would try their oil in exchange I send the old oil in for comparison against this oil so that’s what I’m doing. It was all 100% free from Pennzoil so I’m sending a used Valvoline sample in then when this gets changed I’ll send a sample of this in and they compare the two and use it for their research development.

Free pennzoil that is pretty awesome! 👍 Sign me up for the next demo and inquire why regular oil is becoming difficult to find. I haven't been able to locate regular 10W-30 at my usual sources.

By "regular" you mean not synthetic or synthetic-blend?

No offense, but why would you want it? Synthetics are better in just about every way, and they're approaching price parity with conventional oils.

Yes not just free oil either, I got all kinds of goodies. Got a t-shirt, stickers, a cuzie and the sample kits and everything like that. And have enough oil for two changes. I’ll just have to buy 2 extra quarts because it holds 6 quarts so I used all 5 quarts from one bottle then one from the other. But still it’s low cost and I’m not complaining. Yes conventional is getting hard to find these days. I run conventional in all my older stuff. It ***** it’s hard to find.

Well, if you can tolerate a synthetic blend, Wally World has Chevron 5w30 blend for $7.99 per 5 quart jug right now. Not endorsing them, I really can't stand Wal-Mart and avoid it most of the time, but there's no denying that's an excellent price.

Edit: sorry, I meant that as a reply to Flat Thunder Channel.

That is a great price. I’ve never seen Chevron there. We are going today so I’ll look when we go.

Well dang lol. Never had luck ordering liquid products online. Last time it showed up busted and all over.
I ordered two jugs of Castrol online, and they came in one box. In between ordering them and their arrival, I hurt my foot, so the box sat unopened on the living room couch for a couple weeks.

I had expected they would be packed upright in the box, but no; when I finally got around to opening the box, they were on their sides. They hadn't started leaking yet, but I think they were about to, because the foil seals came off loosely instead of being impossible to peel like you usually find.

Well at least they didn’t leak then. I ordered some copper anti seize once and it was a whole case and all of them came and they were all over the place and everywhere. It was a nasty mess and it went back too. Oil I’ve had bad luck with too. At least my Pennzoil came upright probably because they used the appropriate size box.

Who knows?
Not much today, just a couple of carb cleanings. If the mower (JD F725) still doesn't run right I'll order a replacement carb for it.

pushed my Yj into the garage. The thing left me and my kids stranded at the barber. Wife had to come rescue us in the F250. I give up on the Jeep. When i have the money im going to drop a small diesel motor into it. The dang thing won't even turn over.

Saved a bunch of money. There's a fitting over the vac line in the pool that has a spring loaded cap to keep it closed when the hose isn't connected.
Cap1ab.webp

The pool guy had one with him last week & screwed it in a bit, it got tight after a couple of threads. He said he didn't want to tighten it too much in case it broke. icon_problem.gif
Well that's not right.. so after he left I removed it. Not only had he cross-threaded it, but he'd failed to notice there was some pool plaster in the threads it screwed into. Somewhat mullared the first two threads of the screw in part, but female threads just peachie. icon_silent.gif
Couple of days ago I chased the plaster out of the female threads icon_thumbup.gif

Today I go to Lowes looking for a new doodad. No luck. ******, this means a visit to Leslies pool store... where, as expected they wanted $42 + 9.75% sales tax for this fine piece of Chinese engineering. icon_wtf.gif
Salesman: "They're about $50" icon_eek.gif
Me: "I don't need one that badly icon_rolleyes.gif
******** to that.
Look on Amazon... there's a slew of them priced $20 to $45. icon_problem.gif
Decide to put my years of filing experience to good use, head to garage & fettle the part with a file. 2 or 3 minutes later I have it looking serviceable. Put down a blanket so I can lay on the concrete next to the pool (ground temp is about 150deg).
Fucker screwed all the way in on the first try. WOOT!! wrench.gif wrench.gif wrench.gif wrench.gif wrench.gif
Job jobbed.

I opened my paycheck that had been lost in the mail for a month. Man was I happy to see that sucker, lol.

I do contract work, and one of my clients pays monthly, and by business check. I know they are good for it, but the USPS, not so much... This is the second month in a row my check got lost/delayed. I think I'm gonna have to have them send it FedEx next month!

Straight conventional oil. I guess I'm old school and continue to use traditional oils in all my stuff except for newer vehicles. I only use the semi - synthetic on some which require 5W-20.

I do step into the interesting synthetic world for the motorcycles. I use Amsoil as I was sold on the idea by an old Harley Rider/mechanic. I do feel they run a little cooler in air cooled engines. He used it before it became main stream. I still change it at regular intervals.

Our central vac wouldn’t shutdown after the hose was pulled from the wall. Had to pull the plug to turn off. Thought it might have been a short in the wiring where it was last plugged in. This was not the problem.
Disconnected all the control feed lines and still would run. Hoping it wasn’t the circuit card.
Took it off the wall and tore it down in the garage. Had to cut some plastic housing.
Cleaned out all the dust, vacuumed off the card. Plugged it i and it just sat there. Thought that might not be good 🙁
Shorted out the control leads and it fired right up.👌 Hoping to get another 20 years out of it. 😉

I had to take a second look at "Rosie" the iRobot Roomba vac that keeps the cat hair at bay around here. It was having issues periodically when it was "undocking". I flipped it over and cleaned the beater brushes as usual. I looked at the front wheel and said "Whoa!" It was so packed with cat hair and lint that it would not roll or pivot.

I had never looked at the front wheel as if it needed to be cleaned . . .

Rosie is running much faster now.

Cheers

Jim

Way back when mice had balls, the insides used to get all linty like that. I was so happy for the advent of optical mice. Now it's all touch screens and voice command. No worries about dust, or a clean, compatible surface.

Wait, you were sold on using modern oil by an old guy who rides a Harley???? ;)
