I've been looking at these two Cman 8 pt. sockets. The one on the left has nice square corners, the other one is rounded corners. They are both 3/8 drive, 3/8 sockets, with the same part number44343. The square cut is EE series, the rounded is --V--. Is there any difference between them?000_9658.JPG

Are V socket older than EE? About when did off corner engagement socket start appearing in the Craftsman line up?

That's one odd (Easco) V series 8 point. Off corner engagement wasn't introduced with 6 and 12 point sockets until 1991-92. Even Danaher G2 series 8 points don't have it.

V series sockets come in two forms: =V= style was from 1947 to 1968-72; and -V- which was from 1968-72 to c.1986. EE was made by National Hand Tool from 1982-1986 and Stanley from Dec. 31 1986-1991. Like in my previous post off corner engagement began 1991-2.
