Just snagged this set. I love Vim tools. The HBR5 is my favorite ratchet and while ordering a replacement for the one that finally wore out after years of (ab)use, I found this deal and couldn't pass it up. I found a matching Vim RW1113 for $32 on eBay made for these Duo Drive sockets to get the full low profile effect.

I work at a dealership and I barely use my 3/8" or 1/2" hand tools anymore. It's all 1/4" because the way cars are made these days there's not much room, and impacts for everything else. So I like Vim tools because they're designed for close-in work.

I mean what is duo drive?
I believe..... The Duo Drive can be "powered" via a standard 1/4" ratchet or by a different ratchet placed over the outside of the socket which is designed to accept the:

"RW1113 is DESIGNED WITH A 11MM & 13MM DOUBLE BOX REVERSIBLE RATCHET, 15° OFFSET HEADS FOR CLEARANCE AND 72 TOOTH RATCHET. SOCKETSWIRE CLIP SOCKET RETENTION TO LOCK SOCKET IN PLACE. USE WITH VIM 1/4” DUAL DRIVE SOCKETS SETS".

Here are the parts that make up the sets at VIM / Durston home website (minus the ratchet):

https://cloud1.shopsite.com/sc/productsearch.cgi?storeid=*14884f26aab140570634d7ff

As far as price goes..... Just the value of the Magrails back when they were on sale would make up the majority of the $49.00. At retail, their price exceeds the $49.00!

Darn it, more stuff I just have to have. Also, I can’t seem to convert to metric only, so I end up spending twice as much buying the SAE as well.
Same here.

Another thing I forgot to mention earlier is this company trusts you to submit the out of state sales tax revenue to your home state on your own.

Prices on this site keep changing.

First it was “based on your country.” The socket sets had been at $36 and $40, and they went up to $40 and $60.

Grumble.

Next time was after I entered my credit card information. Now is showing $58 and $68.

Maybe I just got unlucky. Crappy way to have things play out. Definitely feel like I got jerked around.

I just pushed another order through, for a collection of Gearwrench XL ratcheting double box ends. It’s one of the old BOGO style listings.

• 12-Piece Metric 12-Point XL GearBox Double Box Ratcheting Wrench Set - 85988
• 9-Piece SAE XL GearBox Double Box Wrench Set - 85998

When I tried this item earlier, it went up to $214 and I balked. Strange system they’ve got over there...

Lame, I paid $98 for the pair this morning.

Currently higher.A085647C-49C6-423A-BD01-3036124CA160.png

you could try reaching out to them through their Facebook Messenger link. Perhaps they’ll refund you the difference or give you a credit.

Or, wait and see, try and get an order in at the better pricing if it shows up again, and *then* reach out about canceling the higher-priced one.

Yeah, these are nice little sets. I think I paid $50 each for mine.

Be very careful with that website guys, it seems very shady to me. I just saw the set the OP posted on there for $26 something, so I added it to my cart and went to checkout. I entered all my info, chose the free shipping option, and everything looked fine. Then when I clicked to submit my payment, suddenly my card was charged more than double the price that was shown up to that point and I get an email receipt showing the higher price as well. I quickly messaged them telling them about the issue and I said if it wasn't fixed right away I would be filing a fraudulent charge claim with my credit card company, because I never authorized that much higher price. They quickly canceled my order and told me that "they are currently integrating new software into their system and it is wreaking havoc on all of the displayed prices."

I would be a little surprised if many of your orders end up being shipped out.

Interesting! A similar thing happened to me when I first entered my info, but I noticed an alert at the top of the “confirm” page saying that the prices had changed, so I stopped where I was, and felt very annoyed indeed.

Later in the day, the prices went back down, and I tried again. This time, no alerts. The order went through and I got confirmation emails reflecting the nice low sale price.

FWIW, I believe it when they say they’re grappling with software problems. Another tool retailer had a horrifying (for them!) software glitch a few years ago. I helped them understand what was happening and they comped me some GearWrench stuff. Frankly, running a website can be pretty hard. I’m not surprised things sometimes go awry.

I have purchased from this site before without issue. My $98 order shows up with the correct amount on my credit card and I also received a shipping notice this afternoon.

Not surprising. Ordered both sets yesterday at around $25ea. and got a cancelation notice this morning. Honestly figured it was coming, but was worth a shot.

Whoa, it went down to $25 each!? Yikes, what a nightmare for them.
Yeah. As I placed the order I figured there was no way it was going through at that price. Hell if I was them, I'd be canceling my order, haha.

I'm thinking they probably sent some out before realizing what was going on, or allowed the ones ordered at a "reasonable" discount to go though. Either way, rough day for someone in IT

Tracking shows my $49 order has departed USPS and is scheduled to arrive Saturday so I doubt it can be cancelled.

The $76 for 2 seems like the best deal that actually went through.
