I bought one earlier so feel free to ask any questions besides me cutting it open.
Hit the cap with a hammer and it rung pretty well so it should be full tang.
I wasn't aware they discontinued the old style craftsman prybars with the smooth handle and no striking cap. I haven't seen these new craftsman ones in person but from what I see in the pictures, I'd agree with the assessment of being wilde, the handle texture looks the same (which is better than the smooth ones). Not too aggressive but doesn't feel like it'll move around.

$10 seems like a deal, works out I suppose since if I manage to find my 12" craftsman one that's been missing for a year, I got my $3 18" snap on hard handle and this one is a 25", so got a full set.

The 12" USA made pry bar is on clearance for a little under $2. YMMV so check the Walmart website with your store selected or check brickseek.

They still have other sizes of the USA made pry bars at regular price but I noticed they now have some import clones that copy the appearance.

What a rip! The 12" is $3.53 in my nearest store. Actually only the 17" and 36" are showing at my nearest store. The 12" is way north of me and the 25" is further northwest. I'd have to run all over town to make up a set.

Dammit. I had to look. I don't see the 12" on the site, but the 17" is $8.84, the 24" is $9.84, the 36 is $12.74 and the four piece set (8,12,18,and 24) is $12.44. I have all of those already, only the 36 is the Walmart brand though. The 12, 18, and 24 are rebadged Masterforce, and my 8 and 48 are actually Wilde. By the time tomorrow is over with, I may have duplicates of everything but the 48.

The 4 piece set is not the same as the singles just FYI, believe it's the Chinese ones without the striking caps.

Also just to add you can get the Wilde from Epstein's for pretty damn cheap. The 36" is 20.95 (almost the same price it is regularly at Walmart) 31" 14.95, 25" 12.50, 17" 8.95, and 12" 7.95 and this way you aren't supporting Walmart, you're supporting a small business. I know the extra few bucks add up but for around 65 bucks you'll have 5 different sizes. Just throwing it out there for any of you guys. If I would have seen they had these at Epstein's for that cheap I would have given them my money instead of Walmart. I did buy the 12" and 17" from them though. The 36", 24" and 17" I got from Wally.

Yeah, don't be fooled by the CHEAP package of prybars at Walmart they are NOT the same as the individuals. These pictured are made in the USA by Wilde and are awesome.

+1 for the rebranded Wilde pry bars. I have a set in my service cart and they’re great. Can’t beat the price!

Keep in mind, this thread was started back in 2018.

However, it does have decent and recent updates. My local Walmart doesn't show any of those on the website. I try to stay out of the place but I need a few prybars for another toolbox.

Tekton also sells the same bars, but with black handles. I'm sure some other brands have sold them as well.

Also, Wally-World has some acetate-handle screwdrivers under the HyperTough brand, which are made in the USA. I'm 90% sure these are made by Great Neck. Probably not the best drivers in the world, but they are cheap. They are probably similar to the Kobalt acetate handle drivers at Lowe's, which are also made by Great Neck.

I know Great neck used to make good screwdrivers not sure how they are today probably still pretty good.
I think they made them for Craftsman for a while if I recall correctly?

So I made a trip to Walmart and decided not to grab a 17 & 25" pair of bars. I didn't care for the tips. It was almost like they were seconds.

For $25, I bought a set of 3 Masterforce from Menards. 12,17&25 with the same striking cap but green handle. Add in the 11% rebate, I think it is a better deal.

Yes, that's the set. Second set I have bought. I have a set of Cman prybars but they don't have the striking cap on the end. That's why I bought the Masterforce set a few years ago. This set is for the box in the addition that I am putting together. Just a basic box, a tool or two at a time.

These are the tips of the ones I bought today.KIMG1160.JPG

The ones I looked at Walmart didn't have as sharp edge. Maybe it's not an issue after a few uses or maybe what is on the hook locally will be better than what I saw.KIMG1159.JPG

You guys are a bad influence, stopped by Walmart on the way home from work and picked up one of the USA 25". Probably the best $10 tool I've ever purchased. The import sets are made in India so I just got the one 25", thanks to whoever bumped this thread back up.

As a few have said don't get rooked by the hyper tough bars in the blister pack... the good ones are sold individually.

Was in wally a couple weeks ago shopping for the folks & was in the tool section for something... Noticed the empty hooks where the USA bars used to be and a large pile of import packs.

I snagged the last 17 USA bar. Have a few of them scattered about, all holding up well.

End of an era I guess.
