Riv, yeah gotta beat this heat however we can. I see some dark spots on Ranger’s tongue, I’ve never noticed those on a dog before. Is that common?

Black spots are common with Newfs, in varying degrees.
He was all pink as a pup, but seems to have stopped getting any more!

Pugetdude, it’s a scorcher here lately. Forecast for the Seattle area today is 110*. WTF!?
You know it’s not supposed to get that hot around here. I can barely drink my morning cup of coffee in my 84* kitchen. 🥵

thanks Bears, I’m pretty happy with the outcome!

I canceled work today due to lack of interest.

hanging out in LaConner. High of 85, with a nice cool breeze off the water.

113 in Kent just didn’t sound like much fun

Some days are definitely better than others.

After a good nap, I’m feeling pretty good!

Decided to tackle the last caulking joints on the Channel skiff tonight.
Had to remove the mid-rails to get to them.
You can see the cotton rope pounded into the gaps from the outside.
Going with the poly sulfide caulking for the interior, same as the outboard for these joints.

my weapon of choice for sanding between the ribs is a felt block. Easy to cut to any shape.
Let’s me sand right up to the adjacent members.

Became on oyster farmer today.

A couple hundred each Kumamotos and Pacifics, as well as a couple strings of mussels.

18 months to 2 years to mature. Will be adding to it yearly.

should be about as fun as watching paint dry.

Back, so long ago, when I set the new transom inboard about 1/2”.(I actually made the boat shorter😬).

this was due to split ends, and wanting some “Fresh meat” to screw through.

today I made a little router jig to cut the tails off at a nice consistent overhang of about 1/8”.

Didn’t want to go flush now, and have the transom swell with water later.

a nice bead of seam sealing compound will seal it up, but remain flexible for expansion and contraction.

went really easy, and turned out exactly like I wanted.

So, where do we sign up for a cruise on the SS Riven, now that's it's seaworthy? ;)
I’ll forward you the Hold Harmless agreement, and an invite to the one and a half hour Zoom interview.
Feel free to post your Social Security number here.

Hang’ in with the shoreline skiff this afternoon.

baking some enamel in the sun, and sealing up the transom.

invited my friends Interlux, Rainier, Sturgil, Tyler, Townes, the Turnpike Troubadours and the Builders and the Butchers.

beat that, Y’all!

Was it a good feeling or a bad one
Mixed.

Liked the company, liked the paychecks, liked the projects.

Hated the commute from my new(ish) house.

looking forward to a new start/opportunity.

mostly looking forward to a bit of a break from it all.
