Good day today.

Primed one boat bottom,

Filled and faired another,

Explored in another boat,

And still had time for a nap.

With the gaps filled from the bottom, I flipped the boat over and sealed them from the top.

After cleaning everything, I masked off the gaps, and filled them with a polysulfide based rubber compound. Just like I did on a few tables back quite a few pages in this thread.

I lightly knifed them down with a putty knife, hoping to leave the material a bit higher than the boards. The excess will get sanded off flush once fully cured.

Cure time in current conditions is at least a week.

Finally, got a minute to set the bandsaw up with the resaw blade and fence.
A lot of tweaking and tuning.

New bearings and new tires helped.

just need something to rip!

Maybe too many.

hate to waste a new blade on just any old thing.

I did run some test pieces, and the results looked good to me.

I am looking to do board and batten on my barn, how wide can the resale setup cut? I am putting sheathing up, so the board and batten is just for looks, was thinking about trying to resaw some of my NOS stuff. ;)

I am actually going to do it reverse, so the battens are under the boards, haven’t figured out the logistics yet, but Dad started to do it years ago and it looks cool. I figure I can do thin boards to save on costs.

Strouty,
How wide are you thinking to use?
The wider the board, the slower it goes and the harder it is to keep straight.

Been awhile.

had to take a forced break for a well written, humorous post.

hope y’all caught it before it went away😜

Gave me some time to focus on getting some work done on the Shoreline skiff.
Everything inside is done, and ready for paint.
No more caulking and sanding!

Had a little fun this morning, helping a friend pull his boat out of his shop and place it on a trailer.
He’s been building this for years, and trusted me with lifting it😬.

we had to remove the top to get it out the garage door.

That a lot of boat coming out of a small hole Riv.
Jim,

we had plenty of width, but only had a few inches clearance under header.

it was a bit nerve racking.

didn’t really get a chance to play with the lift before jumping on and getting started.

it only had two hours on it, and the controls were a bit stiff.

Jay,

I got the West Marine Teak Cleaner.

oxcylic acid is the main ingredient.

I’m liking the results!

I would say that works very well, I used to have to clean up the teak on Dad’s boat, I could make it look like that, but it was a total sanding and reapply of the oil. Did that stuff just wipe on?

Strouty,

wet the wood, soft brush, rinse the wood, done.

Here’s a pic from the day job I thought y’all might like.

Compressor will have 8 hose reels on it.
When the guy who will be running the shop saw them, he said “what am I going to do with those?”

Classic case of upper management not understanding what the guys in the field do for a living.

Looking for something a little out of ordinary for the paint color for the Shoreline skiff.

landed on a light green color.

searching the interwebs, vintage VWs kept coming up in sea foam green.

ive always liked the color palet of the older VWs.

kind of a meerschaum, or “Seafoam “.

will continue to play with it, as I’d like it in a more matte finish.

Thanks Tool/Harley,
I mixed a white and green that was available off the shelf.

I think I’ll do the removable floor boards with just the green.

Epifanes paint goes on so easy. By far my favorite paint to work with.

the epoxy primer was too sticky, and tacked up to fast. It was hard to keep a wet edge.

Thanks Puget,

Looking at it again in the sun, I may add the slightest amount of blue to it for the 2nd coat.

just a hint.

Trying to beat the heat and still get something done today. Got up at 5AM to collect some gifts from the channel gods and a good walk and swim for the dogs.
Plan on sitting in front of a fan with my feet in a kiddie pool for the rest of the day.
