My father-in-law passed away in April and now that the house is on the market it is time to start going through the garage. He has a ton of cool stuff. Some of it I will probably keep and will probably sell some. Ill update this post as I go through things. All input is welcome. Some of these things Im not even sure what they are.

What are these?

Spent some more time going through the garage today. The drill press is coming home with me, not sure about the other stuff yet.

Found this interesting looking vise - not sure what it is for.

Was pretty excited to find all there c-clamps, especially the 10" one, until I saw it was bent.

I really like his bench vise, couldn't find any identifying marks on it. Might be a little overkill for me, but we will see.

The interesting vise, as you put it, is a saw sharpening vise. The big vise shown at the end is a low-end Chinese vise, sadly.

The drill press looks like a Craftsman or Dunlap model, but I am not sure. Check out the vintage drill press thread and you will find more information. It should definitely work for you, but I would be very careful of the wiring, as it looks iffy in the pic.

My guess is the drill press is a Mohawk, missing it's cover. Look on the base, right near the column and see if it has a Sears tag.

Buffalo isn't too bad imo. And yes the 2 at the top of this thread are likely machinist's jacks. Larger "trumpet" shaped jacks that are a foot or more taller (collapsed) are probably building/structure leveling jacks. Such jacks often have a 'grab handle' as part of the cast iron stationary 'trumpet'. All-in-all some pretty cool tools.

Condolences to you and your family members on the passing of FIL.

Had a chance to go through a few more things. Found a Curtis No 60 vise. Not sure what its for. I would imagine something specialized because the jaws are curved. tempImage8Dh5iX.jpgtempImageFleo7a.jpg

Some place posted that as a "Curtis MFG Co. Model 60 Boat Lantern Clamp Mount. This auction is for a vintage hull mount lantern clamp by Curtis Manufacturing Co. of Muncie. IND". Maybe someone can expand on that. There was one posted in the vise thread a while ago, with no one identifying it. Clicking through does not work

I have one of those sandblasters in my garage. I've been trying to figure out what to do with it since I had to do a couple of garage cleanouts recently. Right now I've lost my motivation and a lot of stuff is just sitting in boxes. Good luck with the cleanout I had to give away a lot of stuff just to get rid of it.

Found some kind of old cutters. Never seen anything like them before with the way they fold up and all. Any ideas if they were for a special purpose?

You have some neet tools there. I always wondered how a 'C' clamp that big could get bent sideways. My dad has a Sears jack like yours and it works just fine.

Was over the there today going through the shed an pulled out the most awesome wheelbarrow I have ever seen.

maybe 2 years ago I was over there doing yard work when he wasn’t able to and pulled this thing out. I asked him if that has Batman’s wheelbarrowA7F55543-9A59-4525-B88F-56B3CCFCF5BA.jpeg

Great for concrete work: keeps the spillage off the wheel area.
