Hello, I bought another welder generator that I want to plug my 30 amp 3 prong Hypertherm plasma cutter into. The welder/generator has a 50 amp 4 prong, will the adapter linked below work without letting the some out of the wires? First picture is the outlet on the welder. Second picture is the 3 prong outlet that I usually plug into, to run the plasma cutter.

the picture of the adapter shows a drier plug which is 30 amp ( it has the angled( or L shaped prong for neutral) whereas your receptacle is a straight prong neutral which is stove outlet . something seems wrong with either the description or the picture in your link in my opinion

Edit Note . Amazon takes me to an amazon.ca listing rather than amazon.com listing, thus the confusion. ignore this post

That adapter will work just fine. All it is doing is removing the neutral from the circuit.

you could just as well cut the 6-50p off the welder's cord and put a 14-50 plug on the cord, though this may void any warranty and violate the listing.

Huh? the picture on the amazon link is correct. the plug has 3 straight blades and a D pin for the ground which is correct for a 14-50p.

the only incorrect info is the title, where it says dryer. Amazon is notorious for having incorrect info that doesn't match the product they're selling. I simply click the report button and tell them what is wrong.

a 14-30p would have 2 straight blades, an L blade & a D pin.

strange

The link takes me to something different than what youre seeing, the correct adapter. the title in your screenshot doesn't even match the OP's like mine does. you must have something funky going on on your computer.

We've had quite a few cord adapters fused to our equipment (event power grid). I'd change the plug on my plasma, or buy a 50a range cord for it.

If it is OK to plug a 9 Watt LED table lamp into a 15 Watt wall outlet; I am sure your 30 Amp Plasma Cutter will work fine plugged into a 50 Amp source.
