What is the proper way to dispose of the contents?
I just meant to not dump it outside or down the drain. CTC is a hazardous liquid. You'd have to contact your local waste management office, water treatment plant, landfill, or county office in your area for details. Here we have a special facility. The liquid has to be in a non-corrosive container that is labeled. You wait in your truck. They come out and get it when it's your turn.

If you mean how to remove it from the FE, you just unscrew the fill/drain hex plug and pour it out. I always put them in a translucent bag and put the wrench on the plug over the bag. That way if there's any pressure, it won't spritz you. Very unlikely, but a good precaution. The fumes are very noxious, so wear a mask.

Hello, my name is Raineman and I’m a tool addict.
I had no self control on a interwebz ad for SK tools.
I have gone down the rabbit hole recently with SK and I’m hoping there is a way out…sort of.
There are some other brand goodies in the mix and I left a boatload of other quality brands on site.
I’m just gonna show pictures and I might have to do it with multiple posts. Too much to break down, most of it is SK Wayne. Someone got to it before me and snarked most of the 1/4” stuff and SK swivel sockets so I was sloppy seconds. I probably overpaid, but I felt good about paying $75 for all of it because she was a nice person and let me root through her late father’s entire estate at leisure.

Found this yesterday. Pictures are redundant as they are also posted in the vintage forums.

Small haul (Lugz 2021_48) today. Tiny Carpenter tap and die set, Keen Kutter shears, Long C BE hinge handle, unusually short (and not chopped) Duro brake spring pliers, B&S spark plug wrench, and a pocket hydrometer.

Thank you, sir! I will be posting more photos of the Carpenter's Set No. 2-1/2 in the "Tap & Die" thread on the VB soon. I will be posting photos of the shears in the "Keen Kutter" thread tomorrow, hopefully. Besides a veneer of rust, they have some harder much more stubborn ick on the finger guards.

Lardy, I'm pretty sure you PK router was made by Stanley? My very first router job was done with one that as I recall was identical. Over 30 years ago...

After much wandering about today, here are my finds:
51388729412_ae057d3e50_h.jpg
Klein bolt bag, Stanley 101 1/2 claw hammer (needed this for a tool set I am working on), a Plomb LA off-set driver, and I picked up a bag of wrenches for $2, mostly for the L-handle, but the MAC, Williams, Cornwell, etc. sweetened the deal (also set aside assorted junk wrenches) $6 for all of that.

Also, I hit the local used book store on the way home:
51389340433_60d9fb0b0d_h.jpg
The Dickens is from the late teens, early twenties judging by the cover, while the woodworking book is dated '44. I will post those in the book thread when I get a chance.

A few stops yesterday yielded a handful of Proto LA and Plomb with a couple extras snuck in for good measure.

Snap-On 2428B DOE 3/4-7/8
Proto 5214 7/16 x 3/8
Proto LA (Pebble) 1230 15/16
Proto LA (Pebble) 1228 7/8
Proto LA (Pebble) 1222 11/16
Proto LA (Pebble) 1127 1/2 - 19/32 DBE
Proto 86A 1/2" Cold Chisel
Plomb 1130 9/16 - 5/8 DBE (EC)
Plomb 1126 1/2 - 9/16 DBE (BC)
Plomb 5461 5" Extension
Small Red Socket Box

The most interesting of the lot was the Proto LA 1127 DBE with 19/32 & 1/2 service openings. The 2 Plomb wrenches are, I believe, my first with date codes ('43?).

Best regards,
John

bmw, is that 1618 a "BOYD" DBE wrench? I found a Boyd DBE that is a dead ringer for its Thorsen mate, and could have been stamped with Action too. Yours looks like an offset version and mine is just angled.

I wonder if the brand had any connection to Ned Boyd?

It is marked BOYD, but it is a dead ringer for Cornwell. Size markings are on each side, the font, and so on. So, I guess it could be whoever made them for Cornwell, assuming someone else made them.

Another small haul (Lugz 2021_49) from the flea this morning.

20210820_090926.jpg20210820_100603.jpg

The khaki pith helmet is military (US Army QMC), but postwar (1948). It is the same spec and from the same company that made most of them during WWII, however, so it will be a perfect stand-in. Best of all, it fits!

The little 'Man (Quite) Literally With the Golden Gun' is from the top of a marksmanship trophy. He's a rather dapper shootist. I like it!

I already have a Greenfield "Little Giant" reversible 4-way pipe wrench, but it's a 10-incher. This one is an 8-incher.

No idea on the hinged adjustable wrench head. That rectangular piece is hollow, meant to slip over a handle. No markings and it's lost its handle, where I suspect the markings were. I will be researching this one!

Probably due to the smoke from the nearby forest fires, there was only one sale that mentioned tools in the Tahoe basin. I found a few tools, mostly US made Craftsman. The square is marked True Value.

1/3 hp Craftsman pre-block grinder. It's missing one of the wheel side covers, but it was only $5.00.

The estate sale did kind of creep me out...I suspect the previous owner may have expired in the house and laid there for some time before they were discovered, the place smelled like death. 💀

I have been threatening my wife with the idea of picking one up lately...
It's funny how that works. I have all kinds of 'Not going anywhere with you wearing that...' items of apparel.
That's the Turn-More wrench! I hope to find out you are wearing that hat while picking from now on!
Thanks for the lead on the wrench! It's not exactly my picking style, but it would look great with a monocle, a pipe, and a fake British accent. :)

swagger stick too?
Now that I have! :)

Too many things for the LEFT-BEHIND post, so I'll just leave these shots of the large messy load (old area garage clean-out) that I was pawing through this morning...

Single stop today.

Belknap No. 312 Cyclone 3-1/2" open screw vise--I don't see this one on the spreadsheet
1" Plumbers pipe brush--to clean those largish sockets
Swiss Army Floral/Gardener single blade knife--who knew they made a floral knife??
$8 for the lot.

Nice. You know that's probably the famous hardware store, right?

All,
I posted that "Turn-More" wrench (thanks again for the ID, 3bay!) down on the VB. Everything else from yesterday and today has also been posted in pertinent brand (Keen Kutter, B&S) or type (Tap & Die, Pipe wrenches, Paraphernalia) threads on the VB.

Hit quite a few sales today with a lot of tools but most had either crusty rusty stuff or cheap off brand stuff. Well at least had some stuff to paw through today. After much digging was able to find at least a few nuggets of goodness.

S-K 3/8" drive bent handle flex ratchet. I seem to occasionally be able to pick up bent handles cheap since I get the sense many sellers look at the bent handles as if they are broken 😁. Mac pliers, Snap-On wrench and driver.

I'm into local industrial history so I picked up this plaque commemorating the last iron pour at the General Motors C.F.D (=Central Foundry Division ?) Tonawanda N.Y. which cast engine blocks and whatever. Foundry was demolished to make way for expansion of engine lines. I suppose these were presented to foundry employees. It is made of iron so I wonder if it was literally made from the last iron poured.......which I highly doubt since these would have been produced by a third party I would think, cool to me none the less.

I hit two sales today, one shop sale and one estate sale. The shop sale looked real good from the pics but was a total bust. Everything was Harbor freight, even the large machines like bandsaws and sanders. I looked for supplies but didn't really see anything I could use, so I moved on. The second sale looked much more interesting but didn't start until 10 am.

Now, because it's here and it's us, I am gonna complain. Why do they do this? Who starts at that time? What is possibly gained in the settling of a person's estate by limiting the sales hours? I just don't understand. It's common here, and some sales don't start until 11 am! What gives? Anyway, along with that, this was the most overpriced sale I have seen in a while. I know this company, which I don't like to start with as they always have this one yahoo doing "security" with a gun on his hip, is always pricy, and I figure that is the company prerogative as they are trying to run a business and realize the most money for the family. But $10 for a dirty, rust specked Proto socket? $25 for a parts plane? What hell damn guy? Anyway, here is what I did manage to find at a reasonable price:
51391086476_2c51b5852b_h.jpg
Sixties-ish Williams box, Thorsen 1/4" ratchet, Plomb pebble ratchet, misc. Craftsman that was in the box, Walden breaker bar, Proto 10mm hex socket. Most of that was unpriced and I was able to get it all for $10.

Freebie for me: office remodel netted a lightly used 65" NEC LCD monitor.
Timely since my old 50" plasma bit the dust last month and I've been to busy to shop for a replacement that I won't regret.
I just need to track down a stand and some BNC adapters.

My fiftieth trip this year (Lugz 2021_50) was outstanding for one little 6" OAL reason! Everything else was just filler. :)

20210821_093907.jpg20210821_093842.jpg

I picked all these things out of the same garage close-out load as the last two days. Today I decided to be kinder to my knees so I dumped one of the milk crates and used it as a little stool to sit on. After awhile I would just hold it in place under my **** and skooch it to the right to the next milk crate as I went. When there were too many things to hold in one hand I grabbed the can. At one point the vendor made a joke about it filling up that I knew was meant to be an implication of his mindset during our impending dickering, but there were so many people there and he was so harried that when I later presented the whole can without dumping the contents and made an offer, he took it.

Best part of the day though was running into another toolhound I hadn't seen in a few years. He's a glazier, but he's a Florida snowbird only up here a few months working part-time. He liked chrome and me pre-chrome so we would partner and tip each other off as we worked the tables. Anyway, he told me he found a Bonney 3/4-inch drive set in the box. Didn't have it with him, though. Then he tells me his daughter just bought a rowhouse in Roebling. Yes, the town named after the guy whose company built the Brooklyn bridge, among others. So I told him about Roebling "Alligator" wrenches and that I had an extra one if his daughter wanted to hang it somewhere like a decoration and locally relevant interesting conversation piece. Cameraderie and karma are good, but, yes, I am hoping that will be buy me down some discount favor on the price of the Bonney 3/4 set!

What do you think the steel cylinders are supposed to be used for ? Welding ?
Could be useful for "T" shaped height adjustable extensions? Or maybe a few of those roller out feed table type "T's"? Or long upside down "U" used to support a big piece of plywood to keep it from sagging. Tall upside down "U" used like a clothes rack to hang stuff to paint?

Add a height adjustable turn table to one for rotating something while you paint it? or a "christmas tree" type for painting too.

Add some decking to make a sturdy low scaffold to stand on.

Not much today. SK screwdriver and 6 in 1, Wright 3/8” breaker bar, 6 1/4” SK sockets, and a MAC 1/4” SAE set with tin rack, missing 5/16. Paid $15.
Picked up some non tool items for the auction site.

The TL-13 (or TL-13A) linesman pliers?

I was a complete bust today at the flea. $1 to get in, $3.85 at the grocery store across the street for some lunch and I'm home for less than $5.
