What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled the electric masterbuilt smoker out of the garage to make smoked turkey meat loaf with black raspberry glaze.

Smoked at very small whole turkey back in '02/3. IIRC, started at ~ 6am and it wasn't done until 8 or 9 pm. My wife and our son/daughter say that was the best turkey they've had to this say. I smelled of smoke for several days afterwards. Smoked it in a 'barrel' type BBQ that had a small smoker 'barrel' on the end of it.

I hope you used anti seize. That teeny hex will strip right out when the plug welds itself in it's hole...

I live in the Mojave, corrosion of any sort, including galvanic etc, is just not a problem here. Bike is 22 years old, while there are some parts of the bike where the paint has worn off, there is not one speck of corrosion on it anywhere.

I was hiding in the garage while waiting for "cooler weather", in the house. I mentioned something about my wife's sister's birthday being next Wednesday. My wife took exception to this, because I appeared to have forgotten her b'day. I did not think this was a big deal, because they are twins. They have been twins for decades, as it turns out.

You're in the clear if the sister is older, technically, her birthday comes first !

At the first of every month I tell my wife Happy Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Mother's Day, and Valentines Day.

Garage *adjacent*...
Did a bit of early morning paint clean up on the SB Honda. That's enough for one day as it's already getting a bit toasty out there...Haven't done the hood, roof or deck lid yet.. apart from a couple of small test spots (those parts are really bad).
& yes, the shiny bits looked pretty much like the rest of it before..... Will most likely replace the black strips that cover the weld as they're only about $30 each if I get ambitious.
Top/front of fenders & the hood are completely buggered from crazing.

and if you're trying to read the Tshirt in the reflection, it says "Why kill them with kindness when you can use an axe?" :)

Just got back from a extended weekend and a fun 6 hour road trip to Somerset Cruise Nights.
This month was the Mustang Alley Showcase.
We had a lot of fun with the local Kruisin Stangs Mustang Club, watching the cars on the strip get stupid!
On the way home we got into a few rain squalls and the cars needs cleaning.
That's my wheel detail cleaning wand hanging on a clothline, I'll be using.
Don't let the ceramic coat fool you, it's got some dirt spots....
0830211024.jpg

Besides cleaning the car, I have coolers to put away, not to mention doing something with stuff from a passed relative....
0830211025d.jpg
Gutter guard tools to put away...
0830211025.jpg

...do some rearranging as I can't get to my bicycle either....
0830211025a.jpg
And the pool needs to be reinflated or put away....

But it got too hot and humid...have to wait till this evening, after dinner....I'm staying in the house for now.

@ BlakeTheBoatGuy; please be sure to double check that the alternator on that cool boat of yours is 'marine' rated for inboard use. Such alternators can be pretty pricey, but are absolutely a must for safe operation. I say this because a standard vehicle alternator (AC Delco, etc) will bolt up, connect wire wise, and produce V output just like an inboard marine rated alt, but at much lower cost. And, as such, it isn't all that uncommon to find non inboard rated marine alts installed on inboard boats. The safety issue is that inboard marine rated alternators have additional grounding and/or electrical spark shielding that makes them much much safer for use on an inboard engine propelled boat.
Good advice.
The same goes for starters and fuel pumps.
Electric fuel pumps need to be explosion proof, mechanical ones are vented back to the intake so if the diaphragm leaks, it gets pulled into the engine instead of filling the bilge.

If you are looking at this boat as a project, not an investment, you might be ok.
Otherwise, you'll have more $$ invested than it's worth.
Around here, that would be a $1500 boat running and floating.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but it's the truth.

Thanks. I definitely will. That is once it’s up and running . Guy kinda exaggerated on how long it set for because the last inspection was 2007. Believe it’s going to need a complete rewiring and new starter. A401D189-F2B6-4E3A-9593-4AC99E462440.jpeg
Blake do you know the acronym for Boat, Bust Out Another Thousand.
Lol, nice boat I hope you have a lot of fun with it. Remember it bad luck to rename a boat.

Going to get it up to my sisters house soon but as you can see these tires would not be roadworthy. The way he talked it had been sitting only two years.

Did some measuring to determine where to place my new 9 piece Pro Series New Age cabinets that just arrived. And found out I have room for about 15 more 28” wall cabinets!

...a continuation of my earlier post....
Got the car clean using Croftgate Wash and Wax, windows with Sprayway Glass Cleaner (and good ole' newspaper!) and shined the tires with Croftgate Tire Shine....
0830212011.jpg

I got ALL the ice chests put up on the shelve where they belong....
0830212011a.jpg

But the workbench got a little messed up as I decide to make a new grease trap drawer for my grill or chuck the grill as it is rusting from inside to out....hmmmm
0830212011b.jpg

As most of us, I have too much stuff...the BX cable I might need....sheets of plywood for you never know....the pipe you might need for a lever....the old stool seat as a replacement in case the new one tears....etc....I feel a garage sale coming on this Spring.
The clean up continues as by late October, I need to use ALL 3 bays for car storage....it continues.....

Installed a new electronic log device in dads truck. Got it complete now been working on it for a little bit. His old one is completely dead because it runs of the 3G network. He only pounded the dash and steering wheel a few hundred times and yelled curse words LOL. I told him I’d much rather work inside that dash than the stupid cabin filter I had to replace in a Ford dash today haha.

Disassembled a very old gas dryer down to its smallest parts. Still have to strip wiring tomorrow. It was not worth giving away.

Yeah, I could just scrap it as is but where is the fun in that. Disassembling stuff is relaxing.

Replaced a 4 ft. section of a large old mill beam laying on the ground under the cabin at the lake in a crawl area with 12 x 16 blocks and a bunch of digging. Once the beam was out and rolled over you could see that it was on its way to being at least half rotted through which is not surprising (never meant for that duty), kind of an ignoble end to a beam that was probably well over 100 years old when it was placed there sometime in the last 30 years plus.

Built a new chicken feeder.

I tried building some out of PVC pipe last week. The sprinkler ran over the weekend and water got in them. Ruined an entire bag of chicken feed :/

I'm going back to the buckets with holes in the sides. They seemed to work ok. Not sure why I'd try something new.

Started cleaning the garage because they are done with drywall! These guys are great - drywall delivered on 8/24, drywall hung on 8/26, finish tape/compound on 8/27, second coat on 8/30, and finish sand on 8/31. Now to start paint and hopefully have my mini-split installed this weekend. I parked the cars inside due to this annoying leftovers from the hurricane, ugh.

Fixed another techs screw up. Had to replace the tire and rim. The running board is on order and will be installed by the body shop. He run into the lift arm because he was too close to one side. Brand new truck only 5000 miles. Things happen. The running board was the most expensive thing. He would of had to fix it but he had to go to school so I got the honor of doing it LOL. I hate doing tires. He now knows you don’t drive fast onto the lift either. Had he be going slow the tire would not have popped.

Moved into the 21st Century with internet upgrade in the shop.
Scored a Netgear powerline/WIFI 1000 something model on amazon warehouse for $37.
Was using an old router as AP to extend wifi to the detached shop before and achieved a blistering 3Mbps.
Got a sweet 31Mbps wireless now.
YT in HD and no buffering.

Tried the wired connection from the box on the laptop but it only gets 9Mbps wired. Not sure if its the Old network adapter in this laptop or the Netgear powerline limit. Regardless the Wifi speed kills it 3X. Happy, HAPPY!!

Why isn't said ahole paying for a new ladder?

Yesterday I filled and tested a couple of lanterns, and a new lot of mantles.

Today after work, put stuff away

Cause the ahole doesn't have a pot to piss in or a window to fling it out of. He did it with a borrowed vehicle. He is such a fuckup, in so much debt, that he's now living in a trashed Honda behind someone's garage. I doubt I'll ever see my money. So, I just let it set on a rack for a few years, while I thought about how to fix it, and gathered the materials. Today I needed it, and the fix I planned worked.

I'd have it taken out in flesh, but watching him continuously struggle and fail is soo much more fun than the momentary pleasure of watching a couple of old school goons pound him to a comatose pulp. If I ever get bored, then I'll give him to the goons for a quick thrill.

I didn't know a tire could pop going onto a lift.

Stripped my air compressor to assess damage after it ran dry because a bodged repair I did for a seal and oil ran out. Con rod ran dry on the cast iron cam, causing it to seize. Con rod is aluminium, no bearings. I contemplated all sort of repair methods - roller bearing, machine con rod to bigger bore and fit some sort of bushing on cam. In the end I though what the heck, it is broken anyway so I just cleaned the high spots, ran a brake cylinder honing tool to smoothen the bore, polished the cam and refitted everything. Fair enough, tolerance is greater than original. Switching power, the compressor ran smoothly, no rattling noise and had no problem building up air pressure. Well, I hope for the best as I still have to use it continuously using an air hammer.

Spent 5 hours washing and detailing the truck.
It was my punishment for doing a good deed.

Helped a neighbor get mulch. He being thankful wiped the sides and tailgate down dry with a leather glove on.

I polished out all the scratches.

Sprayaway glass cleaner *****.
Probably didn't use newspaper....
Actually the only reason I used it is I ran out of Sparkle glass cleaner and we had a little trial can from a car show goody bag.
It worked for me just fine...the side windows are up in the picture, BTW....can hardly notice them.

Took a pair of non working headphones into the shop, maybe tomorrow I will see if I can easily fix them. Because I paid only $10 for replacements; I don't think I will try very hard.
