Air compressor volume question

I have a single stage compressor rated at 18cfm @ 100psi. I want to get an HVLP spray gun, most guns need around 15CFM at 25-30psi. My question is, would my compressor still produce th rated CFM at 30PSI? I assume I would scale down the PSI at the gun with a regulator but what the CFM does at that pressure is stumping me.
Thanks

I run the regulator on my compressor wide open (for me the tanks cycles around 125 psi) and regulate with a quality regulator at the gun. Line pressure to the gun is roughly 125 psi depending on the cycle of the compressor.

If your compressor can handle 18 cfm @ 100 psi it will have no trouble with 15 cfm at the gun

Some sources say that you should multiply the required tool cfm by 1.5 (in your case this = 22.5 cfm) which your compressor should handle with ease. However, you have not mentioned the tank size of your A comp. The typical comp has a 20 gallon tank and if this is case with your unit then you'll be OK. If you're running a much smaller tank (i.e. a pancake, etc) then you may have problems.

Thanks, my tank is a 60 gal tank, so it appears I'll be ok. I wasn't sure if the volume changes with the pressure.

To answer your question yes, at lower psi available cfm goes up a bit.
