I don’t know where I went wrong but my guesstimate on how much Promar200 primer I had left was definitely not enough for even a first coat on my ceiling and walls this evening. So it looks like I will be picking up another 5 gallon container of Promar200 primer to add a second coat to my ceiling tomorrow and finish out the walls. I’m thinking I will leave the ceiling in white primer apply two coats of SW Emerald Matte in Repose Grey to match the interior house color.

I STRONGLY suggest high gloss white. if you want an accent color stripe, fine, but I did my garage in High gloss white over 30 years ago, and have not regretted it. Its NEVER dark in there if there is any light at all... AND any grease splashes just wipe off.

Pulled the sickle bar out of my mower, replaced three knives, and sharpened the rest. Put it back together and drove off to make a little cash with it.

Used the old lift to off-load the new roller tool chest…….the boxes just keep growing! And dont worry, the vise is just sitting there, I found an old elevator door that I’ll be making into a workbench and it will be mounted on there! Next up - take down the old lift……

Got fed up with the extremely poor WiFi reception in my garage. So frustrating to be in the middle of searching for something on the internet only to have the signal drop on both the 2G and 5G...so much so my laptop almost had a little accident more than once. My garage was also built with foil-backed OSB so even getting a radio signal from the local station is nearly impossible. Even decent cell service is poor with the doors down. Step outside and reception and WiFi are fine.

We bought a Google Nest router with 2 extra points last week and got that set up including one point in the garage. What a difference. Why did I wait so long to solve this issue? It's been flawless today even with the detached garage doors closed. Even our basement which was essentially a WiFi dead zone has great signal now. I'm likely going to invest in a couple more once some of our remodeling is completed. My goal at some point to have heat and a small TV going in the garage so at least now I know I can stream without issue.

Next project? Cleaning so I can get my new kennel burned and stained. It's been waiting on the backburner for a couple months. Hope to have it done soon because I start gutting my kitchen this Sunday and I'm sure I'll have a mess in the garage again. Seems to be a never ending circle. Clean...make a mess...fall behind on projects...procrastinate some more...clean...finish a project and start it all over again.

Finally got the last piece of the travel box for my Coleman stove.
20210902_174752.jpg

It was, umm, smaller than I expected...
Shoulda read the description better.
My bad.

20210902_174758.jpg
And promptly threw it to the wolves.

Hey, it's a box for a camping stove!

It'll have a lot of scars very soon!.

Thanks Jim!
I haven't forgotten about the recipe, just haven't been in the house much today.
Probably be Tuesday before I can look it up, heading to the woods in the morning.

Got the frame complete for my outfeed table. I need to trim the legs about an inch and install some leveler on the bottom. The table saw is level, but the floor isn’t quite level. Going to use double 3/4” for the top and add slots for the crosscut sled. It is going to be quite an upgrade from the drop down that was included with the table saw.

I made this by laminating 3/4” plywood and includes mortise and tendon to ensure the bench strength.

Began the process of winterizing my motorcycle. Kinda sad about it, but cooler weather is waking up the arthritis in my hip. I'm already looking forward to next spring.

We have a spot under the stairs that leads to living space above my shop, installed a sink in it today. It's going to be great finally having a shop sink.

Not my money/labor but I'd STILL suggest you put a finish coat of bright white on the ceiling. You have it totally empty and the walls won't care about overspray until you paint them a color - IF you paint them a color.

Do it now and you'll never regret it. Don't do it and you may well regret it soon.

Not doing much in the garage these days, some pulled muscles preventing too much. Instead, for fun, I've dealt with a defrosting freezer (filled 2 basement sinks full of ice).

Lots of computer work as well, updating everything in my home network (aka "homelab") including rebuilding my Dell9420 Win10 laptop which I managed to mess up when "fiddling". It now runs cooler and has stopped blue screens! Other projects include a combination of electronics in the basement workshop.

All this between loads of laundry.....it seems by back muscles can still do laundry (or so Mrs Outlander thinks). That said, dryer is making a heck of a noise. Once I can bend down I guess I'll remove the rear cover an peek in!

@ Nigel; that's great looking car. Sure is nice to work on something clean and shinny is it?

@ Topcok88; I again agree with Dan. Our last house was a very light semi-gloss beige inside and sem-g off white in the garage. Both looked very good and were easy to clean. Our current house is beige semi-g and flat white in the G. I plan on coating the G in semi-gloss white in the future.

Thank you all and I do agree about it being easier to clean and brighter using semi-gloss/gloss coatings. This is a before picture where I have a Valspar satin bright white on the ceiling, a Valspar satin color called Hot Stone on the walls, and a typical gray epoxy gloss floor.
I had intended to use Sherwin Williams Eminence flat on the ceiling but apparently there is a paint shortage… So for now I will use primer finish and on the walls I will be using Sherwin Williams matte in Repose Grey. And I gotta decide if I will have the floor reacted by a local company or use some of those plastic tiles AND what lighting (still haven’t put any back up because I am in a state of analysis paralysis) For reference here is my basement project I’ve been working on using the same colors.
And that was a long winded reply that I tried the “shiny” finish and it really just isn’t my preference and I can’t stand the textured ceiling I paid extra to put an additional 1/2” of drywall over the existing 5/8” ceiling so I could have nice flat finish. For anyone wondering the garage is 24x24x9 and cost $3,100 for materials delivered, hung, and finished - took 5 days total for everything.

Since the Escape got new tires yesterday I decided to go all out and install everything else it needed lol. I had to go with a Ford cabin air filter because I couldn’t find an aftermarket one which is fine because I get all my parts through work with a discount. They don’t make factory original wiper blades for it anymore so I got these at work too. The rear wiper is still factory. And one thing I have learned is always keep extra wheel studs and lug nuts on hand in case anything goes wrong lol. So I purchased two extra of each. The studs were hard to get had to wait about 4 days for them. Now I have to figure out the wipers on the front. I think I may need some new wiper arms because something snapped and none of the adapters work on there now so it’s probably going to have to get new ones oh well things get old and break.

Waiting for the second coat of paint to dry. Tomorrow the mini split will be installed and maybe even my wall mount pressure washer.

Saturday is putz day in the garage as all my major projects are done for now.
First thing was an attempt to repair my favorite folding chair that I broke while in Somerset, Summer Nights last weekend.
I made a 18 gauge plate and screwed and drilled and came up with this "jury rig".

Taped the part for paint...the plastic cracked as I was leaning on it and not sitting proper....
090421a.jpg

Here is a better look of the fix.....I repainted it after I cut the excess bolt.....
090421c.jpg
Chair should be good for another season....
Next up was a empty metal canister once filled with cookie sticks....
6c-13a9e7b1e222_1.50bcc86077b5b62e68fe589b81064589.jpg

These make great canisters for screws that come in cardboard boxes. So I scuffed the outside and painted the can so I can use magic marker on it to define what kind of screws are inside.
090421b.jpg

So I had some issues with my car matts and determined they are totally shot. The back is just gone after 11+ years.
So I am going to cut out the tribar pony logo and reuse them in the future as LLoyd Matts doesn't make these exact type anymore.
090421d.jpg

I am going to use my Car show matts for everyday use and confiscate my wife's Car Show matts for my NEW matts as she never used then at all. I ALWAYS install fresh matts at car shows so they look clean and new, because they are! Never used. Makes for a clean look when competing for judged trophies at car shows.
Much better....
090421e.jpg

I decided to take a look at my winter matts and found the driver side had holes in them too...WTH?!?! Just years of wear and tear so I grabbed some Black silcone and filled the holes from the back side after taping off the front money side....letting them dry good before I peel off the tape....

Gathered together some brass fittings to make a storage tank from a biscuit tin (cookie can) for my latest project.
Begin the dissambly of a magnetron from a Microwave Oven. Worked until my legs got tired and then decided I had enough fun for one day.

Salvaging magnets? I use them to stick tools to my bigger machines.

Started putting the Mach 1 decals on the car! Happy with the way the rear has turned out. 6 more to go.

Took till noon to get the old front door frame our. (without damaging the finished oak moldings inside...) doing the last of the cleanup to start installing the new door frame and door... Things should speed up other than I'll need to replace the old outside moldings. ( trip to the box store...)

It is such a nice day in the shade, I decided to putz next to the garage, on the patio.
Throwing out this car mat as the rubber backing is deteriorating and makes the mat a hazard.
But I cut off the tribar pony logo for a future purchase/use ....
0905211403.jpg

Neighbor trimmed a lot of large dead branches and cut down one pine tree so I grabbed some manageable lengths last month and today was the day I cut it all up into useful chiminea pieces with my Harbor Freight cheapo electric chainsaw.
0905211539a.jpg

0905211541.jpg

And the pile grows as a lot of it need to dry and sliced into quarters.....
0905211538.jpg

The wifey and I are planning on popping a couple of bottles of vino and relax in out overstuffed glider so I prepped the chiminea for the evenings festivities....
