Those nippers are unique! I've never seen them from Schollhorn, or even compound?
3bay found one in a lot of several other Schollhorns a couple years ago and that was the first one I had ever seen. 'Seek and Ye Shall (Maybe, Eventually...) Find'! :)
I think Starrett also made a piano wire nipper that was compound action.
Yes, and best of all, it had (has! they still make them!) adjustable and replaceable jaws. There's been one found this year (can't remember who...) and a few found and reported here over the years. They have near-legendsry status and the current models are very expensive. Like, $300.

I went to a car show Saturday in Charles Town West Virginia to help my buddy out who is recovering from hip surgery. I was basically his driver for the day. Had to drive his’68 Shelby GT500KR. One of the top ones in the Country.

I have the same nipper. It was thrown out where I worked. I se it for piano wire and fish hooks. So far no chips. It was used for piano wire at work but they finally went to just grinding a notch and snapping them since some of those wire got up to 1/4".

Flyer- like Outlaw said earlier: You stole that!

I’m impressed at the amount of truck tools that you find.

Fred- looks like a great vintage tool day for you.
Thanks 3Bay, in the probably 10 years I have been doing the garage/estate sale thing quite unusual this year finding so many privately run garage sales with truck tools. I'm usually good for stumbling on one such sale per year and usually they are poorly advertised sales tool wise and thus more often than not next to no/little competition and as noted this year as been unusual.

Congrats guys! Suckage all around for Fred, Flyer, Floyd, Saukit & Don!

Wow,
Major suckage on the sockets.
You bought the deep impact set at a great price,
and got the rest of the socket sets for free.
Well done.
Thanks guys, been an unusually good summer so far with lots of luck involved.

Catfish, the PWA items are a push rod housing packing nut wrench and a starter/generator crowfoot. The latter has a beveled square drive so the extension can tilt outward. This is because the mounting flange bolt circle of the starter or generator is smaller than the outside diameter of the unit.

Today was the once-a-month local swap meet, which seems to be getting bigger every year. So, it has become a must-stop.

I found quite a bit of interesting stuff, but only picked up the Dunlap brace and CS co. boxwood ruler. I had to pass on a Dunlap machinists chest as even though it was a good price, it had been repainted. I might look for it next month though.

The Star Trek ratchet, Thorsen 5/16 combo were pickups at an estate sale I hit on the way home. I also picked up this book on the .45 auto at the same place.

From the looks of it, I would say it's from the early sixties.

Went to the Hillsville VA fleamarket over the weekend. The local VFW puts it on. It's a fleamarket with a gun show with fair food mixed in. It's a good time.

Came away with this haul. Wasn't looking for metal stamps but somehow I came home with three sets. The Swiss Army Pioneer was made in 96 and looks brand new.

The find of the weekend came from a vendor that had the largest collection of old Stanley hand planes I have ever seen. He was big on woodworking and is why I was able purchase it. IMG_4300.JPG
IMG_4299.JPGIMG_4294.JPG
It's one of my coolest finds yet. Haven't gotten into age but to have survived with the box is awesome. The vendor could tell I was geeking out over it and I feel he went easy on me.

Those are some nice finds, Southern. I really like the oiler, and the drill index (with box and beautiful labels!) is wonderful.

Good Deal!

Wow, just... WOW!!!

Lots of great hauls this weekend. My favorite suckage item WAS @Davefr's camping stove, until @Southern83 showed up with that drill index / wooden box combo!!!!!

Sounds like it! Please post the Edgecomb Steel sign in the "Machinists' Signage" thread. Vintage Discussion Board. You can find a link to it in the Index of Threads in the Sticky.

Went back to Jake’s flea this morning. $23 brought home a 7’ Shakespeare Alpha spinning rod, a pivoting all-steel caster, 2 ballpeins (one is a Bonney, I think), Bonney 833 DOE, Kraeuter S-wrench, multiwrench w a missing plug end, 2 Indestro ratcheting DBEs, FSP longnose pliers, Ray socket, .30cal bore brush, C’man nailsets and die holder.
Left behind a C’man Heritage 5195 swivelbase 3-1/2” vise…I have a 4” fixed base version I’ve restored, trying to get back together, but the twisted-up jaw screws are unobtanium. The jaws of the 5195 were also a bit wiggly, so I’d be multiplying an existing problem. Guy was asking $70. Red overspray (questionable condition of original paint) and wiggly jaws just made that too high to even counter, though all the parts were there well-greased with no visible damage, including the complicated main nut assembly.

I was geeking out on the Edgecomb Decimal chart ,wondering if it would clean up a bit with sos pad/simple green,wd-40/etc. and you had to throw the drill index in there. Very nice find.

Looks to be a Frontier, Imperial Stainless.

This was also in the box, I have never seen one of these:

This strap is used to roll the edge of a fender or a quarter panel back in towards the hood/deck lid. Very useful tool. I'd be interested in it if you wanted to let it go.

Southern83, that's the coolest drill organizer I've seen.

Blake, I went to Hillsville last year and had a great time. Well worth being prepared for HOT and long walks with your treasures. Tools were abundant and ran the gamut on prices. Best deal of the day for me was a surplus "tanker bar" which I erroneously thought I'd posted in last year's GS thread. 6 feet of pry bar was a pain to get back to the truck, through the crowds, but it can't be beat when you want it. Sadly, didn't make it there this year.

Picked up these three old guys today:

I put the Craftsman under my lathe, it fits perfectly in the space below, the machinist's chest will either get restored and it will replace one of my Gerstners, or it will get flipped quickly. The topmost box, well, I kind of had to take it for the deal to work:
51435191989_28b24e3621_b.jpg
$80 for all of them. Sadly the Crafty and machinist chests don't have front panels, but that is ok at the price.

Found a “tools, and misc” Garage cleanout a couple weeks ago and picked up a bunch of stuff. The item I liked the best was a never been used Kennedy toolbox with a price sheet dated oct of 1982.
There is a large lot of hex drive sockets and ratchets that I know little about and would gladly sell to someone who could appreciate them. Any tips as to how to tell them apart by manufacturer would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I guess the gentleman was a collector of glass cutters or perhaps he bought someone else’s collection at some point.

Sunday I attended the same flea market bmw reported on earlier. It was well-attended, but the sellers were somewhat different. Several of my favorite sellers were not there, and a new group of sellers was flogging crafts and nick-knacks. Fortunately, the operators have been recruiting people selling old car parts, so a new group of them is showing up. This group tends to price their wares higher than my favorite sellers, but they are still much lower than the Antique Store crowd.

The first photo is the Plomb Empire stuff:

The second photo is various wrenches that turned up. I had to buy the Craftsman chain wrench to get the Plomb pry bar, but the deal was affordable. The Crescent (Barcalo made) scoop combinations were offered by an elderly woman who decided to bring her deceased husband's tools to sell with her crafts. I got some of the Plomb from her in this bundle.

It is interesting to compare the two brake wrenches. Different lengths and offsets. I believe that there was some discussion of this on a thread about KRW tools.

In the Enderes 2016 catalog, a G2 is a Blacksmith's Tong, and a G4 is Clinch Cutter, which is a multi-purpose tool incorporating a "Clinch Cutter or buffer on one end; pritchel on the other end."

The third photo is stuff from the old car vendors:
Tillotson carburetor for a Model A Ford

Enderes G3. I think this is a blacksmithing tool, because of the "G" prefix.
Paramount drain plug wrench
K-D #307 valve spring compressor for Ford A and B
Truth crowfoot specialty wrench. It is so interesting, I couldn't pass it up! I think the square drive is a user modification.

I like the Craftsman chain wrench, although it looks like a lot of potential chain diameter for a shaft that short.
I have several Diamond of those.

Here are two hatchets that were from a very jumbled house cleanout estate situation that I stumbled across on the way home from a rained out flea market Sunday.
Stacked leather Estwing, and a Belknap Bluegrass. A buck each.
I am guessing some serious grinding has been done on the cutting edge to make it so short?
Also from a local yard sale that advertised antiques, but had none.....
I bought a junky tool box that had a Weller soldering gun mixed in so paid $5.00 for the lot.
Didn't notice the pliers was an old Snap-on 96 till I got it home. (that thing is in better shape than I am & we are about the same age Ha.)
