Snap-on Thursday today. My favorite day of the week for that reason lol. Got a long 1/4 ratchet I’m sure it will come in handy especially for cars with drain plugs right next to the exhaust or sway bar. And other stuff too. Also purchased the miniature 6 inch needle nose pliers. Then he gave everyone in the shop a hat (except the lube tech who told him he would never touch a Snap-on tool because it’s overpriced) you could pick this one or a black and white one with some shamrock looking things on the bill I chose this one. Next week I plan to get the master rethreading kit if he has it. I wanted it this week but he didn’t have it. I’m just glad we have a great Snap-on guy. And he always gives discounts on stuff too.

I’m curious what the shamrock hat looks like.

I’ve never used 1/4” on drain plugs. I do want a long 1/4” ratchet for other reasons though.
I’ll see if he will let me take a picture I can’t find one online. Yeah I haven’t either but this might be good so I don’t have to stand there with a wrench and turn it. Almost everyone in the shop has the long ones they use them more than I would think so I decided to go ahead and get one.

Edit: picture of said hat: guess it’s not like shamrock but I didn’t know how to describe it. 1C225C10-F16B-4877-A89A-9788D2719F83.jpeg

I do not know how many woodworkers or diy renovation guys are here so they may appreciate this Festool Planex LHS 2 225 EQI Plus. Found it on FestoolRecon for just under $1k so picked it up with shipping for just over $1k. Now to find a CT 48 AC so I can start flattening those ugly textured ceilings in my house.

Picked up a set of hard handle screwdrivers for my cart. I really like the hard handle screwdrivers - the more I use them the more I like them. I have a set of these in power blue in my main box for clean work, but wanted something a bit more noticeable for the dirty/greasy work that I typically use my cart for.

Blake I have that ratchet in comfort grip flex and it's one of my go to ratchets and it's surprisingly strong. My guy also took another and took the 3/8 that's the size of the regular 1/4 drive and put that head on it so I have a long handle thin 3/8 and I love that thing

That’s great to hear. I was hoping he had a hard handle but he didn’t and wasn’t sure if they made this one in the hard handle so I got this one. I don’t mind the comfort grip it just gets sticky over time. Yeah I have seen that a lot with the 1/4 to 3/8 conversion seems handy I have yet to try it.

I was weary of them at first also but it seems that if u wipe them off and don't let oil and grease set on them it's fine, and not even get crazy I just wipe with my rag no brake clean ect. I'd say I've had my 1/2 the longest at 6 years or so and other than being dirty it's just fine. The 14.4 tools seem to have the same material as the grip and while mine aren't as nice as my ratchets it's not from oil more from being hit into parts. The 3/8 is awesome I can't remember but I believe you said your a subie tech? If so to give you an idea of what it'll take, I used it the other day while tearing an EJ out for head gaskets and it had no problem on the bell housing bolts or the ac compressor bracket bolts that have never been removed on a rusty 200k car, the handle flexes but it's taken everything I've thrown at it in over a year

Wow that is great. I know I’ve made plenty of ratchets flex haha. I’ll have to see if he can hook me up with one. And good to hear about your soft handled ratchets. My coworker that I’m training keeps getting my Matco soaked in oil and the grip is starting to get icky on it I always wipe it off with a clean rag but doesn’t seem to be doing any good maybe the material is slightly different than the Snap-on or something not sure. But still the hard handle is my favorite and I’ll probably keep buying those and they have so many colors to choose from too lol.

Nice grab on the new snappy tools.... I can see you are a guy who likes to maximize his dollars...the snappy rethreader kit is made by lang who made them for craftsman fyi. I believe they also sell them under their own brand..you might want to check that out ?

^ Thing is snap on will sell you singles for like $6, or you can buy them from the manufacturer. For the price difference you better expect to trash a bunch. I use mine almost daily and have only ruined a few over the years.

Grabbed a new 1/2" mid torque from JDTCO when they had them on their deal of the day for $179.

i-BwNT4Cr-L.jpg

Also got one of their boots to go with it.

i-bHT4CSZ-L.jpg

Some Knipex goodness

These are the 6" versions. Honestly didn't need it but wanted to just work towards completing the set. :) I think the 10" versions are the sweet spot for me.

i-BmqFsGk-L.jpg

The 7" pliers wrench. The 10" ones feel massive to me, and I see this one getting a lot more use.

i-BGzk5pw-L.jpg

Another pair of Klein shears. I think when it comes to shears and linemans, Kleins > Knipex.

i-pD5C4TS-L.jpg

Got this Milwaukee lantern for a camping trip. Highly recommend. It worked fantastic and this thing barely sips battery life. There is a USB charging port on the back for phones, lights, etc. You can also rotate the top cap to change between 360 deg of light or focus it to 180deg light.

i-PdMKB99-XL.jpg

i-5d2Krm9-XL.jpg

New Snap On high vis hard handle in 1/4". I am really digging the high vis...

i-qBGvrj4-L.jpg

1/4" anvil to 1/4" hex for my other small hard handle

i-d5DZFfg-L.jpg

End result. Not the most compact bit ratchet you can find, but for general use it's been great.

i-2W3qxxQ-L.jpg

Small indexing prybar from SO. I've had these on my wishlist for a while, and you know how it goes once you pay your account down...

i-zp5dCKV-L.jpg

Got these on ebay for like $20. These feel super stout and the deal made them a better value than the Japanese KTC versions. There is a 10mm hex on the back side, and a koken nut grip socket has enough holding power to latch onto these. Putting these on the end of an extension with a koken nut grip socket does work.

i-pRBGjVx-L.jpg

Needed a tape measure for a tool bag I'm building out. Figured I would give these a try.

i-Q9kqcmL-XL.jpg

Koken zeal super tiny 1/4" drive sockets on their new fancy rail. The rail and the sockets are extremely nice. The rail was "free" with my socket purchase from my dealer.

i-d9sqRSR-L.jpg

Got these for the aforementioned camping trip. Incredible knife for the price point. This was $15.90 shipped and made in Sweden..even the sheath. Heard a lot of great things, and these lived up to the hype.

i-H2dHsgN-L.jpg

Deadblow that is on promo. Been wanting an 8oz for a while, so why not?

i-hn3nTKC-L.jpg

My experiences/favor of Wera is hit or miss. I think some of their tools like the joker wrenches are gimmicky, but other tools like their rapidaptor bit holders are absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately their 1/4" to 1/4" hex adaptor doesn't use the same mechanism as this style. The hex versions are hands down the best tool in this category in my opinion. You don't need to pull the collar back to lock them in place, and there is no forward/aft movement regardless of bit style.

i-D4w7hf5-L.jpg

I wanted to get a particular shape trim panel tool. It was $13 for the Snap On rebranded Bojo. This entire set was on sale for $6 on Amazon. Oddly enough, this has to be one of the best trim panel tool sets I've ever gotten. Weird, but I can't complain.

Get some tub o towels to clean your tools, they take the grub and grime out of damn near anything, they will take that stickiness out of those comfort grip handles

You will love it, i prepped my whole house with mine. Its quite forgiving as its a RO sander and no rotary, just sans a bit slower.
The light, at the end is the bees knees to get a nice surface fast.

That’s exactly what I do, all my soft grips look like new because they don’t go back in the box until I wipe them down at the end of the day with Tub o Towels.

I have similar tools for hose clamps. I use them all the time. They are a life saver.

Same tape measure I have. I love the reverse paint on them. It’s so much easier to read.

That's a fantastic deal on the Mid! You're gonna enjoy it. My favorite way to run it is with a 3.0 HO battery. Packs a whallop and nearly as small as my Stubby!

Found this knee mill on FaceBook MarketPlace earlier in the week. So a friend and I went he ended up buying it for $1k. Luckily the shop had a overhead crane to load it on the trailer and was kind enough to weight it for us - 1956 lbs. So luckily the aluminum gantry, gantry trolley, and chain fall were rated for 1 ton and we are sure there is a generous safety factor in there… But it was successfully unloaded in his shop and we got the stuck B&S tool holder out of the cartridge by freezing it, a pickle fork, and a few raps on the draw bar. Now to start cleaning it up and order some replacement parts (yes they still make and sell this model and even provided the order paperwork from 1966!)

Independent tool truck called The German Tool Truck. Solid guy and strives to be the best dealer he can. He services all of southern California...literally. Doesn't matter if you're at San Diego Porsche or Beverly Hills Rolls Royce...he will be there. Carries Koken, Stahlwille, Wera, Assenmacher, and lots of other specialty tool stuff.

The lady at the cash register even price matched it for me against Acme Tool. Saved $10! Never hurts to ask. :)

I have remote hose clamp pliers that work 90% of the time. I have a tricky job on my 911 coming up, and I needed to beef up my hose clamp arsenal.

So far I've been liking it. My only annoyance is that tape measure manufacturers seem to be having contest about who's got the longest tool without it being floppy. (Pun intended) They keep trying to make these tape measures stick out further and further without it collapsing that the tape measure is so U-shaped that it can be a annoying to work with on flat surfaces.

I EDC the 6" cobra. Gets used constantly. Probably my favorite size. I found the 5" too small.

Shears, maybe; linemans, no. ;-P

While im a Makita guy, i have that light and completely agree! Its great!

Mora knives are excellent! The keyway on the sheath fits onto a button on some euro pants. I carry mine that way on occasion.

I dont have the Wera, but Fastcap makes a great bit holder with excellent retention.
