Made a vise label for a member that provided a photo. It’s best to have a nice flatbed scan of a label. But that is not always possible.

Matt,

Very nice job with only that wonky photo to work with. You're a better man than I for taking it on.

I don't think people understand how much extra work goes into making a good usable label from having to work off a dark, far a way, low res pic like that.

I realize this is an older post, but can you make me a Lisle 91000 label?

Wow these are beautiful! Do you still make these? I have 2-397.19580 Grinders that I am working on. Would be happy to pay for the service.

Ah figured it out. Here is the pic. The 2 grinders I am working on are identical.

Matt, just sent you a PM about this one. Not sure if it has enough left to save. Unsure about the transitions on the left/right edge from gold to red background. There was a bit more before I tried wiping it on the left. Top reads Miller-Knuth, center is Quality Tools, bottom is Manufacturing Co ... Omaha, Nebraska. Top looks like it was an old-gold coloring, with black outlines in red letters, and bottom was red with solid black letters. I can't find another decal on the internet to help with.. Overall looks like 1x2.25"

Wow. Few issues here. The original is a decal that can conform to the very rough surface. My labels need a flatter substrate to adhere or will just fall off. Also the layout is just too far gone to get an accurate reproduction. It may be possible to make something that looks somewhat similar in style and color but it will be very hard to get the shape, dimensions and positioning exact.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking as well. May try and start a thread on the machine, and see if someone else has a better example. Figured it was worth asking about, at least.

Edit: It doesn't help that the only place I have seen this particular model 3112-B is in a catalog. Not sure if the other models with belt guards had this decal (I suspect so, but have not seen one pictured).

Hi Matt - Working on my first bench grinder restoration. It's a Craftsman 397.19681 unit with 1/3 HP. I can't PM you yet, but any chance you have any stickers for this model? You do fantastic work!

Hi Matt- Like everyone else on this thread has stated, you do amazing work! I have the following Craftsman bench grinder I am restoring. The photo is poor but the label isn't much better. Would you be able to make this label?

What kind of printer is used?

I use a Gerber Edge 2, thermal transfer printer. Here is a newer generation called the Gerber Edge FX

Matt, have you done the small shield shaped USA sticker that goes on the dynamic jaw of Wilton machinist vises?

I could use a couple but have no examples, mine are totally shot.

I looked around on google and couldn’t find what it looks like. If you find one let me know and I can see about reproducing it.

Hi Matt,

I'm hoping you still make labels. I've got a Baldor 7 Pedestal Grinder and a Robinair vacuum pump. Do you know how to get or anyone who makes the aluminum nameplate for the grinders? I would like to get a replacement for that as well.

Thank you so much!

Regards,
Jamie Jensen

You can buy the stamped ones from a Baldor distributor. Last one I purchased was $50 and that was in 2017 so it may be higher now. That was using mrosupply.com and they were easy to work with but it is hard to order these labels.

You have to be very specific with what you want on them. By default they use the order number and stamp that as the model number so you need to specify that you want the actual model number stamped.

You also have to specify that you don’t want the label with UL logo as they will scratch that off before shipping. It took them 3 tries to finally send me the right label. After the second label they had the factory call me directly to make sure there was no miscommunication.

I can make you any of the adhesive labels for the grinder or the pump.

Oh! Can you also do the vertical Baldor sticker that is on the pedestal? I don't have a picture as the one I have is covered by paint. Or is that also available from MRO Supply?

I have made these in the past. There are a few styles they had over the years. Just pm me your details and I can get these made.

Here is a Dayton 1Z707 label I just made for a member.
This one took a while to do the layout based on a slightly distorted photo.

Hey Matt, I am restoring an old auto body 3M paper masking machine. Any chance you could make this decal?

Here is a recent label I made for a Darex drill sharpener. This took a while to reproduce the fine details.

The black label was partially missing so I had to made some educated guesses on the position of the indicator lines (they are not evenly spaced)
