People all over social media are tired of asking Craftsman when we can expect these tools and having our questions ignored.

I don’t give my business to companies who treat their loyal consumer base like garbage. I can ask a question to any other tool brand and usually receive an answer anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of days. Tekton, GearWrench, Channellock, Carlyle, even Kobalt will respond. Craftsman? Nah. “All of these people eager to spend their money on some USA tools can just F*** off as far as we’re concerned”.

They can't answer that question it would be like calling up any of those companies and asking when is your new product made by X going to be available they can't answer

Why can’t they answer? A simple, “Hopefully before Christmas” or a “We’re shooting for the second quarter of 2022” would suffice.

People have made it clear to them that they’re ready to spend money. They’ve had plenty of chances to keep me dangling on the hook, but I took my business elsewhere. I won’t even set foot in Lowe’s now. I find SB&D Craftsman to be frustrating in many aspects and I simply don’t have the patience for them.

I hope they change the warranty policy back with this second shift now lol. Ridiculous I’ve got to send in my old stuff now for replacements unless they are singling me out but they told me it was a new policy and I voiced that it was inconvenient and they just said ok let us know when you send them in so we can ship your replacements. Doubtful I’ll be a customer much longer but maybe. Could just be the particular person I’m working with each time you send a request it’s someone different that emails back.

I agree. I asked too but no response. I still like the Kobalt brand too though and prefer Lowe’s over the orange store at least for tools. I’m just mad I’ve got to send my tools in in order to obtain replacements now instead of the quick and easy old way they were doing. And Lowe’s won’t help me with warranty so yeah I’m screwed it takes too long to send it in and wait for new ones. Why are they concerned over 30 year old tools that rolled out of a factory that wasn’t even theirs? I even made it a point to complement how nice their tools were already and they just said ok let us know when you send the old ones in so we can ship you your replacements. 😡

Pretty much the only thing SBD has officially announced was that the tools would be coming out this year, and that was last December. And the only official pictures, blurry at that, are of that socket set and ratchet set that I found in an investor's presentation.

To be fair, SBD has usually responded to me on social media messages, I think they’re getting swamped and I think they’re tired of the same questions and generic statements being yelled at them. And as someone pointed out, they’re bound by a lot of laws, regulations, and internal policies about communication and products. I’m staying optimistic about it for now. They might turn out to be polished up hammered dog ****, but I won’t know until I see them. And even people just packing boxes is more jobs in the United States than the last few years of Eddie Lampert’s craftsman abortion provided.

Most of the general population likely doesn’t understand SEC rules or know anything about them. I certainly don’t, nor do I care.

Many, many, many months ago they teased some advertisements for the new USA tools as, “Chroming Soon”. “Soon” to me doesn’t mean 12-16 months or longer.

People anticipated a release before last Christmas. Then it was before the 4th of July, then before fall of 2021 and now it’s maybe before this coming Christmas which doesn’t seem likely either.

The general public is told months in advance when to expect the arrival of a new vehicle to dealer showroom floors, but we can’t get that information on some sockets?

Okie Dokie.

SBD was severely affected by the pandemic. Everything from materials supplies to workforce was affected. They still could have been more transparent, though.

Soon is relative.
Christ said he would be back "soon" nearly 2000 years ago...
Patience is a virtue (one I struggle with as well). To me, the only real reason I am currently looking forward to Craftsman's return to US manufacturing is for warranty (if ever necessary) for my current Made in USA Craftsman tools. I've already resorted to filling up blank spots with Proto, Wright, and SK (primarily).

I agree that soon is relative, but in an industry where a company made its name making US Made tools for the home mechanic... I would say that time is of the essence. People trusted the Craftsman name and have since switched to other manufacturers that produce US Made quality product. The longer that they hold off on offering USA tools, the more likely less people will flock to them. Think about someone like Wright or SK selling out of ACE, Home Depot or Lowes with Made in USA on the packaging. They would bump Craftsman right out of the market.

I don't disagree with you. I sent SBD a very pointed email a while back about this very thing. I did not, however, expect them to ever actually bring manufacturing of Craftsman back to the states (given the fact they have MAC and Proto, and Craftsman being much cheaper than those two), and if they did, wouldn't expect a fast turn around. Personally, I'm just happy they are actually doing it.

I forgot to mention that SBD also bought MTD, so I'm sure that took some attention away from things. TBH I have mixed feelings about that purchase, considering how mediocre and just plain bad MTD mowers are. Then again, maybe SBD can improve some things.

I'm seeing a great big list of "RESPONSIBILITIES","REQUIREMENTS" in these job listings and a whole lot of bupkis in mention of the actual wages... I have a hunch my local olive garden is paying their dishwasher ($17/hr) more than SBD is offering for most of these positions.
Like the local shops here that want third shift cnc operators with welding experience and the starting pay is less than what Valvoline is hiring people to do oil changes for.

This is a strange thread.
A lot of the threads are getting more existential. In the past, tools were discussed on their merits to perform a task whereas now the morally redemptive values of the supply chain of said tool are thrust into the forefront of the conversation. Unfortunately, you rarely realize when the goods time are until they have passed.

Wright is my favorite tool co.

You're thoughts on them or SK are not logical. At all.
