It has been a couple weeks and I and just now able to get the pics up sorry for the delay but here is the story.

I was working a 12hr shift on the medic unit and crusin CL with my phone on some down time, spot a engine hoist for $45 and a engine stand for $20 posted one right after another. so I email both ads and turns out to be the same seller and they say they will hold them til I get off work (10hrs later).

I get off work call the number get the address and go for a look. The items are pristine to say the least and she then tells me she found the paper for the engine stand, showing it is missing the parts that connect to the engine. she refused to take more than $5 for it.

They look to be setting up for a garage sale. Start talking to the lady (in her 50's) turns out her dad past and they were selling off everything in an estate sale in a couple weeks but had posted some big stuff on CL at the urging of her daughter. She starts telling me how they EMS/Fire dept had always been super nice and took great care of her dad, and I needed to take my time and go through and pick out what ever looked good to me and I could get it before the sale.

I only had brought $100 with me but did pick up the non-swivel Wilton machinist vise for $30, the vintage Craftsman Timing Light for $5, the Schumaker battery charger for $5, and the hammers for $2 each and all the grommet tools/grommets for $2.

she was more interested in the tools going to someone who would use and enjoy them than anything else, they set all the prices and I didnt haggle obviously. The bad part was everything else was machinist stuff which I dont have a use for and vintage VW type stuff.

Good deal on the vise.

Good deal?!? It's probably the best deal I've ever seen. It looks new.

Hmm.. maybe someone needs to make a tool box that has a large bottom drawer that can double as a casket. So when you die.. they roll you in your grave along with your tools.

Hmm. A Lista DW is a little too short lengthwise, unfortunately, but they do have a decent drawer depth for little people.

The undertaker can do to you what he does to make short caskets work, he can whack your legs off and you'll fit right in a regular taco wagon.

Mixed feelings: I am hoping that the tools you didn't need, go to someone who did need, them. Otherwise it should have been you that bought and resold them (to people like us), rather then someone else (cynicism, someone out trying to fund drug habit).

Hopefully your kids know how to use them and have an interest. In my family, it is me and my father. I hope to find someone who needs/appreciates tools, BEFORE I croak and leave my stuff to them.
