I put some restoration work into this today. Glue ups, paint removal, drawer shaving to stop rubbing and a paste wax job. This is made of Teak and Pine for a secondary wood. It's now a fine working box with a past and a new future.
This box held a large assortment of wood chisels and tools. I really like this purchase and fixing it was a joy.

Very nice! I will guess home made from Mahogany scraps in the patternshop.

Often times an apprentice would have an assignment to make a tool box as a test of completing their apprenticeship.

OOhh, missed a detail when this post first came through. LuckeyLoser, how do you like that handle on top? I've got an eye on a newish one as a replacement for a box that I don't want to drill the rivets out. Does it carry OK? Feel reasonable in the hand?

What's your source? I've been casually looking around for one for that Hinsdale box for the same reason and can't find one I like. I was thinking of making one out of two old belts.

Had my eye on this one for a while, but its now out of stock. Love the steel band tying the hooks together.

Case Handle. Parallel Buckles, Reinforced, Black

STEEL REINFORCED - Black leather with nickel buckles. Steel reinforced attachment area. Works on cases with parallel "U" brackets, buckles onto brackets. Handle is about 1" wide, attachment loops located about 6-1/2" apart. Attachment strap and steel support are about 1/2" wide.

My catch is the Kennedy Box needs a shorter Ctr to Ctr at 4.5"
